faded you can not imagine the relief. Even the nurse was shocked how badly my ears were clogged with wax. Thank goodness it wasn't the eardrum that I was afraid it was going to be. When she cleaned them out I let out an audible AHHHHHHHH and went oh my god. The other ear was even bad too and she was shocked I could hear out of it. The piece of wax that came out, shit you not, was like the size of a beetle. Amazed something like that could even get clogged in here.

Thanks to all you comrades for the well wishes.

Clogged ears are awful but they're one of the few ailments where you experience almost instant relief once they're taken care of.

OOO It was a wax problem. One of my partners has this, she found that she has to go in about every 6 months. It's remarkable how much stuff can fit inside an ear honestly

I should really invest in a syringe with the soft tip like the nurse used today, I've seen them on amazon, who just filled the water up with a little hydrogen peroxide and flushed them right out, little pressure and POP out comes a little beetle of ear wax.

hydrogen peroxide

You shouldn't use that in the inner ear. Buy ear drops and a bulb at Amazon or find a cheaper price locally.

Google...

Is hydrogen peroxide safe for inner ear?

In conclusion, hydrogen peroxide should not be used in your ears, as the risks outweigh the potential benefits.

Funny thing is I've been using hp since I was a kid for chronic ear wax and it always worked. Going to get the drops now instead and keep on top of them.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 8 months ago (1 children)

I have an ear wax problem so I use the drops and a bulb. One crazy thing is you have to not make a mistake and use ear drops when you mean to use eye drops. You don't want that shit in your eyes but the damn containers are identical. It's crazy. I don't understand why the FDA doesn't mandate that ear drops have a red cap or something.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Yeah I was looking today in the store for an earwax kit and the eye drops, nasal stuff, all bleeds in together.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 8 months ago

I hate the term "no brainer" but the FDA reminding people not to confuse the ear drops and eye drops is really a no brainer. I have to assume other countries have tackled this problem. I guess the head of the FDA is always beholden to the ear drops lobby.

I have similar problems. Getting one of those syringe-spray bottle things is well worth it. Although be warned that, at least for me, even room-temperature water caused some serious dizziness. I'm talking like 'can't even sit up straight' level dizziness. Fun times.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 8 months ago

Weird okay thanks.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 8 months ago

Oh yeah, if I remember correctly you can sometimes make someone puke with ice cold water in the ear. For some wild neurological stuff, check out Caloric Vestibular Stimulation.

Glad to ear that you’re doing better!

Be careful with headphones and loud noises for a little while! Your ears are going to be extra sensitive

[–] [email protected] 22 points 8 months ago

I'm already being bombarded by the sound lol, like even Mr. Softie's meow is SO LOUD

[–] [email protected] 13 points 8 months ago (3 children)

ear wax is so fucking stupid man like what the fuck kind of design is that? let's make some wax and put it in a thing that gets clogged easily and then makes your fucking ears not work. How the fuck did people deal with it before we had peroxide solutions and little bulbs to spray water with?

and fuck, like, I think I need to see a nurse regularly because I can't ever fucking hear anybody and I'm pretty sure it's because of clogged ears. I tried to clean them recently and got a big chunk out of one but nothing from the other and I still can't fucking hear half the time

Nurse was super nice, very professional and knew what she was doing.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 8 months ago (2 children)

I have weirdly shaped ear holes, which results in buildup. I really should see an ear doctor.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 8 months ago

Do it, hearing is a bootiful thing.

did they let you keep the bezoar?

[–] [email protected] 7 points 8 months ago (1 children)

I should have asked but no she ditched it.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 8 months ago

dammit no you could have squished it between your fingers

[–] [email protected] 8 points 8 months ago (2 children)

oooh, yeah I had that happen once, you can get a little rubber bulb thing and wash that gunk out with some warm water once in a while

careful though, high-pitched sounds are going to fucking hurt for a day or two

[–] [email protected] 6 points 8 months ago

Yeah I tried looking for the ear wax bulb kit today at my store and they didn't carry it, so I said fuck this I'm going to the urgent care.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 8 months ago

These work, especially with the OTC drops that help dissolve the wax.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Put carbamide peroxide drops in your ears and let it sit for about five minutes once a week. I haven't had any problems with wax buildup since I started doing this. It basically makes your ear wax runnier so it will come out on its own like it's supposed to.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago) (1 children)

wait a month or so to do that though since you just got them cleaned. Not enough wax buildup to need it or sufficiently protect the sensitive skin in your ears from the peroxide.

Also don't use q-tips to clean your ears as they'll only exacerbate the problem.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 8 months ago (3 children)

Noted. I already don't use qtips I know how bad they are.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Puppy Basil & I are glad you're feeling better!

[–] [email protected] 6 points 8 months ago

Yaaay Basil! Thank you comrade!

[–] [email protected] 7 points 8 months ago

I have to have that done every few years. It's shocking every time.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Yo that's great to hear. I absolutely believe you on the size, I had a friend with waxy ears and I once helped them with peroxide. I swear there must have been an entire fucking mine in there.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 8 months ago

Yeah I was floored over how something that big got in there. We're talking years of wax buildup.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 8 months ago (2 children)

Been there. Glad you got relief.

There is no analog for the sensation of when the obstruction exits.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 8 months ago (1 children)

It was this extreme pressure on my ear drum and I couldn't hear shit, was bad.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Same thing has happened to me twice. Actually caused vertigo the second time. And then that woah, huh, ahhhhhh sensation of when it's freed up.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 8 months ago

Yeah I was starting to get a little bit of vertigo too and headaches.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 8 months ago

Maybe when you're sick and you pull that gigantic booger out of your nose and it feels like it was so deep it was touching your brain.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Congrats! I'm so happy for you! I was wondering about your since your last post.
