500 grams of LIDL's pre-made lasagne, potato salad and a few slices of toasted rye bread with cheese. Fuel, not food.

That sounds fucking amazing tbh

the brown things look like pig ears, it's a dish we have in asia in a salad kind of thing. alternatively, the black things look like cloud ear mushrooms, which is a popular mushroom we have in asia. i'm inclined to believe OP means it's pig ears because cloud ear mushrooms are not crunchy.

cloud ear mushroom

100% correct!

Ham, applesauce, mashed potatoes, and beans

Delicious! Love the color of the ham

[-] [email protected] 2 points 6 months ago

I didn't know ham came in other colours (besides green).

I ate absolutely lovely mushroom spring rolls yesterday as well as some potato soup.

Plan for breakfast is oatmeal with berries and honey. Dinner is pasta. Will be eating out for lunch, so whatever strikes my fancy then.

(I spy the ikea dish set 😆 I have it too.)

Homemade pizza with fresh dough, fresh vegetable medley sauce, braised beef, salted and seasoned mushrooms, and jalapenos.

Raw

Cooked

That looks amazing, love the fresh jalapenos.

I had one of those "chili dogs" from am/pm earlier. It's like a hotdog with the chili inside the dog casing and actually does taste like a chili dog, albeit a bit drier (cuz no sauces). I don't think they charge for the chili sauce next to the nacho cheese though, so it might not be worth the extra $1 over a basic hot dog which you could add chili and cheese to unless you're gonna eat it in your car.

That's kind of an unusual meal. Any particular reason you're eating those items? A specific diet?

[-] [email protected] 1 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

I'm working out, and my trainer had given me protein goals.

I eat the eggs and liver for maximum bioavailability in nutrients (nature's multivitamin). I eat the ears for the collagen to help with skin elasticity and joint health.

If you want unusual: crispy bacon dipped in guacamole as a snack

I've been experimenting with making crispy bacon. I can't quite make it solid like a tortilla, but a breakfast place nearby can do it. So I know it's possible

I only know for metric temps.
Put it on a tray, in a cold oven set for 180°c.
Takes 15-18 minutes (probably depends how fast your oven is, so keep an eye on it as you figure it out).
Streaky bacon can get crispy AF. Back bacon, less so but still good

[-] [email protected] 1 points 6 months ago

Awesome. Thank you. I'll try out the oven method.

I thought that might be the case, given all the protein.

I used to be jacked when I worked private security. I eventually gave up trying to hit my protein target in food alone, and got a lot of it from supplements.

Well, awesome. Good luck on all your fitness endeavors!

[-] [email protected] 1 points 6 months ago

What supplements did you use? Did you find yourself doing it all at once or spread out over the day?

[-] [email protected] 2 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

My supplement use should be primarily a cautionary tale, because I screwed up my kidneys and liver taking pretty big stacks, and now only years later are they for the most part healed.

That being said, a good old whey shake (with nothing else added) is hard to go wrong with. And if I had to do it over again, I'd skip virtually all the other stuff I loaded into my body.

Crispy bacon is not hard at all, you just need to cook it longer than you typically would, and then rest it for a few seconds.
