Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

Bud an aquarium glass magnetic cleaner meme?

That's deep.

I can tell you for a fact that the reason Trump is ranting about these steam powered aircraft carrier launch systems that we don't use anymore, is because when we did use them, they required massive boilers and compressors, heat exchangers, turbines, and of course massive plumbing systems, which were all wrapped in asbestos, one of Russia's main exports.

Trump also has made the claim numerous times that if the Twin Towers had not had asbestos remediation done, they would not have burned and would not have fallen.

I have Zero doubt that Trump gets money and support from Russian Asbestos mining magnates.

The dude is a straight up lizard. I've seen a number of the memos from various companies in the 70s and '80s when they actually wrote down on a piece of paper and put their signature under it, that their company or their product line would not phase out asbestos even though it would kill workers, because it was easier and cheaper, and that's exactly what Trump is saying only he's talking about continuing to use asbestos through the entire country.

This is one reason why it is a fucking joke when blue collar or working people say that Trump stands up for workers. This dude literally wants to bring back and make legal a substance that has killed millions of American workers and their family members via take-home exposure, and the only reason is because it would greatly benefit Russia.

Asbestos is miracle stuff though. Fantastic insulation material. You can affordably fill your attic with loose asbestos, and it's a mould resistant, fire resistant insulator. Better for almost all current alternatives. Great for roof tiles too. Will last forever.

Heat resistant, chemical resistant, strong, muffles sound, doesn't conduct electricity... there's a reason there's still so much of the stuff everywhere in buildings.

Obviously, there's is the whole significantly increased risk of painful death thing. But if it wasn't for that one small detail, it's really so much better than the alternatives for so many applications.

Great for all those things someone has to make, someone else has to install, someone else has to service, and someone else has to discard. There's no safe level.

One interesting fact is that Roman historian Pliny the Elder wrote about the stiff lungs and early deaths of tribes who mined asbestos in the first century.

And appreciation of this health risk was lost to time until the 1950s.

In the words of Justin Roczniak, the biggest problem with asbestos is that it's really good

[–] [email protected] 7 points 10 months ago

You seem to make a sarcastic point about the risk of painful death, but I want to emphasis, yeah despite all those positives the risk of a long painful death, its not worth it in many applications

Back in my day, we used to consult the mormons about that enicmatic topic...

If anyone in the 24th century is going to be believing that shit, maybe it's Nog. Not so much Picard.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Maybe this is mirror universe Picard and he's an idiot but he's good at stabbing people.

Star Trek Mirror universe: We aren't bright, but we are sharp and pokey.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 10 months ago (2 children)

Nog is an extremely competent engineer.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 10 months ago (1 children)

You may be thinking of his father, but I'm sure Nog probably went on to great things as well.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

Oh, yes, I messed them up.

Child Nog could believe it if the right person told him.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

Yeah he fixed up a holodeck using a spatula making him a very clever one too.

Ngl, I think Janeway is the one who would be listening to Trump speeches. Gotta justify murdering Tuvix somehow 🤷🏻‍♀️

[–] [email protected] 18 points 10 months ago (2 children)

Janeway would never forgive Trump for "Covfefe"

[–] [email protected] 5 points 10 months ago

Or the fact that he drinks diet cokes.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 10 months ago

Misspell coffee? Make me another Tuvix, I gotta ragekill something.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 10 months ago

How fucking crazy would the universe be if on of the fundamental forces didn't work because of water?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 10 months ago

The thing with trump is his mouth is like a firehose, he never ever stops talking so a lot of stuff he says is going to sound stupid if you stop and think about it for a second. It also doesn't help that he's incredibly fucking stupid.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

Anyone else get mad when they see a lionfish?

It's pure fantasy to believe Trump said something smarter than what it sounds like he said.

Millions engage in this fantasy because they find it too painful to acknowledge that we put a moron in as president.

Here you're going way too far. To think the US can't make a seaworthy electrical system on a nuclear aircraft carrier, you turned your brain off there for a bit.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

He said steam works better than electric catapults for about 1/100th the price. Don't try to make it seem like he's smarter than he is, he's a fuckin dipshit

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

Are you saying that electromagnets don't work under water or that they have a worse problem with water contamination than complex mechanical systems?

Also, are you saying that the guy that said people should just inject bleach on their blood to fight COVID doesn't say ridiculously stupid things?
