General community for news/discussion in the UK.

Less serious posts should go in [email protected] or [email protected]
More serious politics should go in [email protected].

Try not to spam the same link to multiple feddit.uk communities.
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

"deliver on small boats or be destroyed"

Yeah, the boats. It's totally the boats that are the problem. Those pesky boats...

We can only hope Personally I'm hoping a wipeout will split the party down the middle in a tory civil war.

While we're making wishes, the Labour government then announce a referendum on which form of proportional representation we will replace FPTP with.

Should be the minimum requirement. Wipe out the lot of them. Public guillotine seems effective.

But seriously, they say that with age people become more Tory and less tolerant. I'm becoming less tolerant of Tories.

I think we all know what's needed is total government reform though. We can't go on letting them get away with this self serving, unaccountable nonsense. But I have no idea how that could be done.

And while we're at it, unfettered capitalism needs to be reigned in. Suggestions gladly received for both.

Those voters who would shift to the Conservatives with age did so because they had accumulate assets that they would want to protect. Fewer and fewer people are getting the chance to accumulate such assets now, so there would be no reason for their politics to shift.

I agree the governance of the UK is in need of reform, and I would say voting reform would be the place to start.

From what I've read that was true until the X generation which reversed the tendency... Don't know how it will be with the Y and Z generations considering the masculinist movement is very popular with 20-35 y.o. white men...

They should be facing incarceration.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 9 months ago

I read that as "incineration", and my reaction was "a bit harsh, but fair".

Incarceration works too though.

I hate headlines like this purely because it makes a lot of people who were going to vote think "Meh, I don't really need to vote, Labour have it anyway" and then Labour don't have it.
