Hi everyone

I just upgraded feddit.ch to the most recent Lemmy Version v.0.19.1. The new version brings a lot of new features. For example, you can now block entire instances, if you don't like their content, enhanced post ranking, reworked 2fa and much more. I think the new update brings many great improvement, take a look at their change log.

I installed Version 0.19.1 over 0.19.0 because was causing some federation issues. If you like to know more, here are the recent changes to lemmy.

With the update, i also restored image uploads, so you can post your favorite images again.

The update caused some downtime, since the database somehow used all the remaining disk space and needed to do some clean up afterwards.

The next step will be to relocate the pict-rs to a different datastore, since it is using a lot of space together with the db.

If you have any questions, just let me know. If you like to contribute, you'll have some information about that in the sidebar.

Happy Xmas and enjoy your time with your loved ones.

FYI people, if you're having issue, remember to log-out and log-in, clears most issues.

Thanks _Frog for hosting the instance and keeping things running πŸ‘πŸ‘ Happy holidays to all!

Yep. I'm using Eternity and was having issues with subscriptions and commenting. Had to log out/log in again. All good now.

Merry xmas!

Doesn't seem to have fixed the federation issue with feddit.de though.

Sadly the issue seems to persist in 0.19.1. I'm waiting for the next patch.

Thanks for the hard work and for providing this instance for all of us! Unfortunately federation appears to be broken. Is anyone else having this issue since the 0.19.1 update? None of my posts or comments are actually federating anywhere.

It’s not just happening in this instance either. My backup accounts on other instances running 0.19+ aren’t federating properly.

Also talked about here:

Thank you! And yes, i've read some comments about the still broken federation on other instances. It is looking like 0.19.1 needs an other patch, which i happily will implement, as soon as available.

Hey, someone has found a work-around for the outgoing federation bug in 0.19 and 0.19.1.

I'm not sure if you've seen this yet, but figured it might be worth taking a look!

Thank You. Over 400 commits - The downtime was definitely worth it! One question though: Do you recommend/prefer remote follow as an instance for some reason, or not at all (just user pref)?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Remote follow is a nice feature and right now i see it as an user pref.

Interesting. Coming back after the upgrade, I was in a logged out state. I cleared all the cookies, and then logged in again. My 2FA was gone and I had to re-enable/re-create the 2FA secret. Bug?

This is expected behavior, since they reworked the whole 2FA mechanism.
