Melbourne CBD is utterly forgettable and a bit of a toilet at times, so it's no wonder people don't want to go back.
It's much more enjoyable to enjoy that nice cup of coffee or whatever in the suburbs.
I said what I said.
I've been smoked out of hiding and made to promise I'll go into the office once a week and today was this week's day. It's semi enjoyable and a novelty in the morning but on the way home it's horrid and I need a week to recover.
Did you felt like you needed a shower when you got home? I always do for some reason.
Yes! Now I remember why I used to shower morning and night pre COVID when I was in the city more often.
Ugh. For some reason you just reminded me of how I used to have to start an early breakfast shift around the time people were stumbling out of nightclubs and pissing in the laneways outside and trying to chat you up. Ugh.
On another note, why make people actually attend an office if there's no need? I'm not an office worker.. I've mostly had the kinds of jobs where you have to attend to specific machinery or equipment etc in a specific workplace. If you only need a workstation and internet connection then to my mind you can be anywhere. You can be in the fucking Bahamas and work. Why do they do this to people if it is unnecessary?
Oh gross, those were the days.
It's especially pointless considering it's an office of another company under our parent company (and I work for another in a different state) so going into the office has zero benefit to me as all of my staff and team aren't there.. and the staff there have no idea who I am so I might as well be invisible lol.
Super dooper especially at NYE or such times. Why anyone finds such overcrowded mayhem appealing is beyond me.
Melbourne NYE is the stuff of nightmares.
If you're ever up for some chips elizabeth st. maccas 2 am Sat. lemme know I will protect you.
Are you taking apprentices. We yearn to learn of your wise ways
It's a tough crowd down there. We're all gonna have to sign a waiver.
My kids are still young enough that the CBD is interesting, but I think they're becoming wary of the people who approach and ask for money. It's been really notable the last couple of times. We were even sitting just inside the front of a McDonald's and someone entered far enough to ask me for money in front of the kids. The kids were unsettled by it. My oldest also noted that piss was a common aroma. We weren't hanging out around the shitty parts of the CBD, it was an "in general" kind of thing.
It is rather.... unsavoury.
cbd is still beautiful, you just have to plan your trip well
