Any tips for camping in winter? Thinking I might take a one night-er somewhere close by, but last time I went to la trobe river in October I nearly froze to death.
A 4 season tent, insulated sleeping mat with extra foam mat underneath, a winter temp rated down sleeping bag, extra warm liner (some could add a few extra degrees), Merino base layer to sleep in, or/ and a down jacket to sleep in if feeling extra cold and a beanie. And plenty of food before bed!
My "proper" tent is a 6p, and it'll be a solo trip. So I'll probably have to make do with the hiking tent. But yes, my 5c sleeping back might need an upgrade.
thermals, a good puffy jacket, woollen socks (no unnatural fibres/blends), a beanie, and lots of firewood. A decent sleeping bag is a must, and a proper sleeping mat (not a lilo or anything similar - those things offer no protection at all).
I've got a cheapie kmart sleeping mat, I might need to consider upgrading. Thermals are a good idea.
