Maybe don't drink shit whiskey and try a good bourbon instead?

And the amazing thing is you don't need to pay a premium for the good stuff compared to Scotch.

Any suggestions? I tend to shy away because of how expensive they can be.

Plenty of good cheap bourbon out there:

Cheapest, but very drinkable:

  • Evan Williams
  • Very Old Barton

A little more expensive, but amazing:

  • Buffalo Trace
  • Four Roses
  • Basil Hayden
  • 1792

No problem! Enjoy your alcoholic adventure!

What @[email protected] recommended is a good starter collection. Figure out your pallette preferences. Basically avoid the big name labels like Makers (same rule as for beer). If you have a Costco membership, you can get a good price.

About $40-$100 is the sweet spot.

  • Woodford reserve
  • high West
  • old Forester 1870, 1910, 1920
  • angels envy

Also, an ice cube or splash of water opens up the bourbon and improves the flavor. There's nothing uncouth about having your alcohol the way it tastes best.

Edit: Sorry, just noticed this was a 2 week old post.
