I've seen Big Clive's musings on extracting rechargeable cells from these things as well. I've always wanted to give it a try, but somehow the apparently conscientious oiks in my neck of the woods don't seem to litter disposable vapes everywhere so I've never been able to get my hands on any significant quantity of them.
It's astounding that these things are made to just be thrown away. What an absurd amount of waste.
It's crazy that it's legal. And they are getting even cheaper! Around 2020 there were these tiny stick disposables that were about $12-14 but now you can buy massive 5000 'puff' dispos for $10! No wonder all the kids are addicted.
and they are more available (in areas without ground shipping) than the batteries inside.
I vape and I think these disposable vapes are an obscene waste that should not exist. Just get a decent mod, it's cheaper in the long run anyway
That's always been my take. I would also much rather be able to easily refill the thing with whatever I want -- and have control over what's going into it (insofar as anyone can, via buying through trusted sources).
I never understand why they exist. Why would you not want a rechargeable vape?
This is a result of the FDA decimating the entire industry and forcing everyone into disposable products.
99% of the old refillable products and juice were banned putting all those companies out of business.
Not from the US so this sounds a bit weird to me. So they banned the refillable ones but somehow disposables are legal? Weird choice...
Recharging isn't the issue, refilling is. The disposables are designed not to be refilled, so the manufacturer can turn around and sell you another entire one instead.
Literally I've only ever seen 1 as litter in my neck of the woods and it was totalled when I found it
It's been years since those things were normalized how have I only seen 1‽
I mean good job folks but damn
I agree. I try to save them when I can, I've gathered quite a few. Luckily, extracting the lithium cells is quite easy. I even have a model with a screen on it (the e waste is crazy) that I'm planning to hopefully salvage the screen off of.
