I am going to be switching from Namecheap to Epik, at the recommendation of Kay. I've heard in the past that Namecheap is not MAP friendly, and that sites have been taken down to do loli and stuff. I'm going to attempt to start the transfer at 2 PM PDT, that's in 30 minutes, just to give y'all a quick heads up. IDK if it'll result in site downtime or not, but if it does then I'll try and get it back up as soon as possible. I'll keep you updated.

Today I'm gonna try tackling some of the stuff on the server's to-do list. I don't think it'll affect y'all if I do, though one of the things I have to do is find different DNS hosting since Namecheap doesn't like MAPs, so that could bring the website down for a bit, which I apologize in advance for.

When you delete something on Lemmy, by default, it just hides it from the public. This is so it can be restored later if deleting was a mistake. This means that it's still in the database even if you "delete" it.

In order to fully delete a post you need to purge it instead, which is an option in the ellipsis ... menu when the post is in full page view. If you wish to purge a post from the database entirely, and for whatever reason you don't have the ability to, please contact a mod.

rqd2.net runs on Lemmy, which is a federated Reddit clone, so anyone can make communities such as @rqd2 and make posts to them. Posts are sorted by their "score", which is their upvotes minus their downvotes, like on Reddit.
And as I mentioned, it's part of the Fediverse! It uses ActivityPub, which means websites like Mastodon can federate with it. Communities show up as profiles with the "Group" tag. If you want to post to a community from Mastodon simply mention the group. The first paragraph of your post is what the title will be (so this post is titled on Lemmy as "rqd2.net is live! But what is it? 🤔")

Thanks for giving us a great first day of launch! In 24 hours, we tallied... 42 users... 27 communities... 66 posts... And 82 comments! That's a total of 217 things! And it was all a combined effort! Thanks again, it's been a great 24 hours. Glad to see everyone having fun. I think this place could become very important. I'm excited for what the future holds. To think, I went from a Discord mod to a website owner... haha. It's been a wild ride, and it's only the beginning. Thanks for being with me.

Something I didn't know until recently is that in the access logs IP addresses are included in the logs.

I'm gonna look into disabling it or regularly clearing the logs or something.

Just thought i should mention that since it wasn't in the privacy policy, sorry. But I'm the only person with access to it and all the files are very secure.

Though as a reminder, it's never a bad idea to use a VPN online, as it hides your real IP address.

Wanna see what else the Fediverse has to offer? On the bottom of the page it shows a few links, one of which being the Instances page. This is a feature that lets us see every site that we're currently federating with. New sites get added when instances index our database through searches and posts and whatnot. If you wanna check out some other cool Lemmy instance such as lemmy.ml, or if you just wanna see who federates with us check it out! I've been going to sites and searching for the communities here to further spread federation. It seems to do it recursively to some extent.

Even if I might not fully grasp every identity, trying to dictate other's experiences for them feels bad.

There was a time where I was in an autism Discord server, and they randomly decided to ban transautistics from being in the server. Especially back then, I didn't really know what that was, but it felt wrong. Like there was a bad taste in my mouth. The taste was new yet familiar.

It would be very easy to shrug it off and pretend it doesn't affect me, but as a cis-paraphile I know what it's like to be ostracized and no matter how much bullying I've gone through, I will never let myself stand on the other side. Making others miserable does not feel pleasant. I want to be the accepting and gentle ally that I never had.

My vision is for this to become the next radqueer Tumblr. A place for paras and transids and everyone else to convene, to coin terms, to share symbols and flags, etc. We're slowly gaining traction. And you can help! Share this with your radqueer friends! On Tumblr, the Fediverse, wherever! The more folks here, the better.

Would there be any interest in an Orientation and Relationships community? I'd prefer it avoid any discourse and be a good place to find terms, especially for those who's orientation or relationships are affected by being transid or a paraphile in some way. I think it's a good idea- but I'd like to know if anyone would actually have any interest in it.

We are currently looking for a third admin! Preferably someone in the GMT+9 timezone, give or take an hour.

As previously announced, this website will be going public on the 31st of August, 2023, at 11 PM PDT. Once that happens, it'll no longer be private, account registrations will be open, and it'll be openly federating! Until then, there are some final kinks to work out, but I'll almost certainly be able to get them done in a week's time. Thanks to anyone who's checked it out already!
