I am thinking of migrating to Helsinki for it's world class and affordable studies. But I don't know if it's as good as I heard I have some questions if someone could please answer. 1.Is it hard for migrants to get work in Finland? 2.As for accommodation is rent affordable? And is getting a place to live for rent hard? 3.I found out that working hours for migrants are 30 hrs per week which is quite less to be honest. If I work for more hours like 40 or 50 will I get in trouble if found out? 4.I came to know there is no minimum wage in Finland is it true? If yes then will it be problem for migrants?

Thank You all for helping me!!!

There was good old mess where toddler was involved. The end result is my friend used my swimming series card and I bought new one as we went in (I thought I returned mine as empty because I couldn’t find it). After I found out it was my old card with one use left that my friend used as we found her card later from my house. There is just long serienumber as identification.

As I’m finnish and too honest at same time so this is bugging me. Are we in trouble now? I think they got only my name on that card and nothing else (I used epassi to pay for it). If there was any consequences, it would have happened then and there and not afterwards?

I understand that it is a health and functional capacity check, in order to confirm that the applicant is healthy enough to study and perform work tasks of a specific field.

It is placed in "admission criteria", so I guess it is a document? Maybe a certificate? How do I do this health check? Who should perform it and where? Is it required to be done before applying or during the application?

I'm confused about it. Or is it just me saying that I see myself healthy enough? If anyone had done it previously, please share what is it and how should I do it. Thanks!

Moi, I will be starting my masters in mechanical engineering soon from Aalto. Specifically, I will be studying engineering materials (material engineering)

Before coming here I’ve quitted my job back at my home country which I have got a decent pay (around €45,000 after tax) and I have done it since I have loved finland and my friends here and also was excited to learn what I wanted to learn and study.

But, now I’m a bit afraid that I won’t be able to find a job in Finland after graduating from Aalto. I’ve seen lots of posts and writings saying that it is really hard to find a job here without knowing Finnish. (I’m a native english speaker and one other language in Asia) Ofc, I will try to learn it but it will be impossible for me to master it in 2 years.

Does anyone know the job situation for foreigners after graduating from Aalto? How hard is it for mechanical engineers? I would not want to go back to my country after graduating from Aalto. One reason I have chose this uni is so that I can find a life here and already paying already €15,000 for tuition.

Kittos

I think it's a no-brainer question: LLC protects against the risk.

However, I heard it requires a partner for registration.

In my to-be setup software app business, I have done everything, and I see no reason to involve another person (Finnish resident - which is even difficult to find and build rapport with, given that I am an English-speaking immigrant here).

Do I have another option? Or a way to circumvent the LLC partner requirement?

hello, i recently completed my bachelor in finland, but now i want to study computer science master's, is it possible in finland to study different master's than your bachelor? my bsc. (tech) was in something called sustainable urban development and i do have a master's study right in civil engineering (msc tech) in tampere university

while studying my bachelor i completed some courses that could be included in a potential cs degree and also completed full stack open course from u of helsinki, so i have about 30 credit worth of cs related course

beside that i have certification from aws (developer associate) and have about 2 years of real-world swe experience in finland

Terve! I found this 10 day old article and it turns out I’m one the specialist experts this article talks about and I’m far from being rich 😂. I draw a decent salary and lead a comfortable life. But I do worry about my finances if I’d lose my job, that’s not a sign of being rich. And I can say with confidence that most of my fellow Indian immigrants working in IT field feel the same too. I think the the headline a click bait. Nevertheless, it made me wonder who is considered wealthy/rich in Finland?

By street crime I mean pickpocketing, robbery, shooting or violence.

Tell your story and mention when and where this happened

P.S I see that you guys think that I’m sorta newspaper reporter. I’m just curious, since I’m going to move to Finland in a year. And according to your answers, street crime is quite rare in Finland, thank you

Sorry, quite specific question but don't know what subreddit to ask this since r/helsinki is closed, so I though I'll ask here! Are there any specialty food stores in or near Helsinki that sells great watermelons? Usually my regular buys from K-market, S-market etc. are very very bland and taste like, well, water. I'm looking for these long and big types compared to the tiny round ones. I think I recall once hearing that there might be a Turkish shop somewhere in Helsinki that sells them, has anyone heard of that?

Hi,

Some time ago, I made the entrance exams to an AMK in Helsinki and got accepted into a bachelor's degree fulltime programme. Because the studies are mostly online, I do not need to go live in Finland. I have been (and will keep on) visiting Finland often though, not just because of the university, but because I also happen to have a large number of finnish friends (disproportionately so, somehow most of my unrelated online friends later turned out to have been Finns, guess I just vibe with you guys).

However, at every step over the last year, I keep being asked for a henkilotunnus or a Finnish bank account, and I have neither, so I generally have to make phone calls and write emails for alternative arrangements. Because I am a legit student of a Finnish higher education institution, can I get a henkilotunnus (and afterwards a bank account), even if I don't think I will have any permanent address in Finland, and will mostly be visiting for a couple weeks at a time?

I looked at migra and some other government websites, but I am completely confused and can't seem to grasp if I can get a henkilotunnus, and if so, how to get started.

I am an EU citizen (Czech Republic), 22 years old, employed in Czechia (remote job), and never had any legal trouble anywhere whatsoever.

My next visit to Finland is on Monday, so I could get started finally taking care of this, if it's possible.

Thanks for any advice :)

Hello everyone, I'm a high school pass out from Nepal. I am planning to initialize my further education (Bachelor on Infromation Technology with cybersecurity). I am craving for some suggestions and possible information for my studies. It would bliss if I were to get some colleges on the particular field and would be overwhelmed if the process for the application be provided. My prime destination is colleges around Helsinki, but I would require further assistance on housings outside the city. I have completed my high school with good grades and have good knowledge of computer basics to web developments. The help would be tremendous if some tips on part time jobs would be given too along with the above information.

Hey folks:

It's muikku season, and while I've had those delicious fish numerous times from tori kiosks, etc., I've never tried to make them myself.

Can anyone provide a recipe or point me to a good one online. Yes, I know I can google this, but I'm hopeful to get something that has been tried and proven. I'm thinking of the recipe where they are slightly breaded and fried.

Kiitos...
