Welcome (lemmy.dbzer0.com)
submitted 1 year ago by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

I've set up this community for anarchists who want access to a reddit-like fediverse instance, without being beholden to tankie control, and even better, one run by anarchists.

Nothing against raddle btw, they're good peeps (I'm there as well) but I personally prefer my social media distributed, if possible.

So come over and hang. If anyone wants to help with the burden of mod rights as well, lemme know.

The Anarchist Library (theanarchistlibrary.org)

cross-posted from: https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/post/26614587

The Anarchist Library is a great archive of free books and essays on the topic of Anarchism. Some newer books won't be available there due to copyright (thanks Capitalism! /s).

Here's some recommendations to get you started:

*Dear mod: I don't think there's any copyright concerns with the linked texts, but if there is I'll remove the direct links. I only added them because the search function on the archiveis a bit borked, so it can be hard to find what you're looking for.

I have been reading a book about the history of Israel. One section was about people refusing to serve the army when Israel fought war in Libanon and Gaza because they didn't agree with cruelties the Israel army conducted/ accepted. It made me think about the other way around: What if your country is attacked and people are being called to service by the army, would an anarchist refuse out of principle?

Quite some anarchist reject the idea of a centralized army so an anarchist might refuse out of principle. On the other hand, your country is being attacked. You can argue that accepting service is accepted because it is different from invading another country because you now have to defend your own country.

What are your thoughts on this?

It's a pity I can't crosspost in lemmy in a way that would merge the comments in the original thread.

This whole series is great btw. If you have the time, I thoroughly suggest watching it from the start.

PS: This explains the typical online tankie hot-takes so well.

pure liberal cringe. And propaganda. When I tried to post the propaganda that I believe my post was deleted. Also a lot U.S.A drama of politics, like any of that matters. How do I make lemmy.world disappear from my feed in dbzer0 ?
