The idea itself is good. Equity recognizes the varied needs of different groups. While I might share more in common with a worker who uses a wheelchair than a billionaire, the wheelchair user still faces accessibility issues that I don’t experience as an able bodied person. It’s reactionary to cry and scream when marginalized workers advocate for their unique interests.
The timing of the middle eastern category feels weird considering what’s going on in Palestine. White people really like racially demoting other white people they find politically inconvenient. First it was Russians whom the slava Ukraini crowd considers Asian, and now it’s Palestinians, I guess.
On a related note, have Israelis reached level of Apartheid delusion where they larp as the people they despise and constantly demand to be called Palestinian/Mena? Are they like white South Africans who get angry when descendants of the transatlantic slave trade call themselves African?
