It's interesting to me bc I don't have as much of a salient concept of me as a discrete entity. Like I think of myself more as a collection of brain modules, many of whom disagree with each other, that sorta have to live together in the same vessel. And I feel like the person I am when I wake up is not the same person as the one who went to sleep bc I just feel so different every day. So removing a part of me that brings suffering to the other parts is psychologically less like death and more like changing a tire on a car, like yeah it's not the same as before but it never is anyway.
It's all hypothetical anyway bc these are things I cannot change
Keep in mind Mexico has far laxer border security especially if crossing by land (they didn't even check my passport). So don't get discouraged if Canada turns you away, though there is a slight language barrier with Mexico (nothing translator apps can't handle, and a lot of the words are the same due to the etymology)
Personality I'm already out bc I figure the US is just going to gradually get worse and I'd much rather apply for a visa than asylum
Apply for visas now. Pack your bug out bag and be ready to drive to Mexico on a moments notice. Better 10 years too early than a day too late
Oh same tbh. That's why I left the US. (If you'd like advice on immigration to China I can give)
This was a half joke, the lack of male role model being solved by transitioning is kinda incidental, though it may have played a role because I didn't identify with what I observed as the "male role"
but if you counted all people who didn't have a job then you'd skew the statistic even more by counting voluntary stay at home parents and other people who don't work because they don't need to.
Why is this important? Number of people with jobs / number of people is a statistic that obviously shouldn't be 100%, but if it goes up or down that's something we should pay attention to. If we suddenly have a large spike in people who stay at home and don't work, we should at least understand why
Oh yeah maybe the statistic I was thinking of was percent of population that has a job
Ooh good idea. I'm a software developer maybe I'll submit a PR
I'm all in favor of legalizing weed, and in fact I would like to abolish the prescription system in it's entirety, however, I do think that the rhetoric of pro-weed ppl treats it like it's entirely harmless, which is a dangerous sentiment.
I went through some serious symptoms from long term use. The hemispheres of my brain split into 2 different ppl, my body's sense of propioception got all fucked up, and I threw up a whole lot. Not fun. And my memory basically was shot from use, that lasted even after I stopped using. I originally started bc I couldn't afford to see a psychiatrist and I needed antidepressants, it was the closest thing I could get (abolish the fking prescription system). I had no idea that it had any long term effects, the way ppl talk you think it's only good. I mean I'm sure everyone's different, but ppl at least need a warning abt that sort of shit.
