If you go over to astroturfed reddit, there is no shortage of topvoted comments cheering the IDF for bombing children by saying "they're all hamas."

The same rhetoric Hamas probably used to justify killing Israeli civilians. But it's okay if Israel does it, because you know.

I'm trying to access the modlog for https://lemmy.ml/c/worldnews but it either loads forever or returns a "Server error."

It works when I don't access it through my instance: https://lemm.ee/c/[email protected]

Does anyone else have this problem? Is it intentional?

Maybe you should stop being an ass and consider that when the product/brand has worked for MANY people, maybe the issue is you

Hmm. You're right. It's me with my exotic hardware and configurations, not the drivers that many other people outside of /r/linux routinely complain about. My bad. Different AMD drivers breaking some things and fixing others (while never being fully functional) is because of me. The drivers are literally perfect, and have been for years.

Lol. Delusion is just not a river in egypt. Keep fanboying, gonna block you now.

Nah. Nothing weird or wrong about my setup.

Everything worked fine with my Nvidia 660ti. When I switched to an RX 580, I had issues with refresh rates and Freesync (that I can remember, it's been awhile and I don't care to keep all this recorded.) Some versions of drivers would fix issues but cause others. Some versions required certain configurations to fix issues but cause others. It was a mess.

Switched back to the 660ti, no issues. Bought a used 1070, no issues.

Haven't gone back to AMD since that horrendous experience, but maybe they've improved.

I think it's sad how few people here are willing to acknowledge that AMD's drivers may not have been adequate for most users even if they worked for them. I bought AMD listening to ya'll, and was horribly disappointed.

I guess that's part of why theory is no substitute for experience.

Nah. It was an RX 580.

I think instead of damage control for AMD, you could try to open your mind to the possibility that their drives may not be so superior that they work for everyone just because they work for you.

It's at least possible, right?

banning guns doesn’t actually reduce homicide rates if the nation has people who want to kill each other.

You're right. I thought you were smarter enough to equate lower desire to kill to lower homicide rates.

My bad.

(or disregarding the hyperbole, way less people who want to kill each other, which is still unrealistic).

Then what is it? Why do these nations have lower homicide rates than other countries that have identical gun laws if it isn't their culture?

And again, saying “because of their culture” makes no sense when countries with low homicide rates have drastically different cultures.

Okay buddy, there you go ignoring information that contradicts your argument again. Culture is more than just the desire to kill one another, lol.

Care to mention a first world country with no gun control and low homicide rates? Or one with gun control but high rates? Because if you find none I really think it’s not a “cultural issue”.

You've already admitted it's a cultural issue when you specified 'first world'. This means that you think there's more to homicide rates than banning guns, which is exactly my point from the very beginning. It's culture, not guns. You're trying to cherrypick, again, by ignoring entire continents that go against your incorrect assertion that banning guns equates to lower homicide rates.

Anyways man, it's becoming increasingly obvious that you're just going to twist your brain into knots to avoid admitting when you're wrong. I see it all the time, and the only winning move is not to play.

I'm gonna block you now. Have a nice day, and stay in school.

Yeah, I just meant it was a lame joke befitting of reddit comedians and their fans.

Dang, there you go thinking in absolutes because you want to avoid information that goes against your arguments.

You mentioned homicide rates. They're not 0 on any of the continents you mentioned. Why are you arguing against me as though I think there's no desire to kill in the nations you mentioned?

Homicide rates are lower in some nations than others, regardless of gun laws, because of their culture. Why is this so difficult for you to understand?

This is my point. You will avoid any information that contradicts what you want to believe and then get mad when people don't live in your fantasy world.

That's nice. It's interesting how many people say one works better than the other based on their own experience.

I think it's a testament to why people should go with what works best for them, and not just what people on the internet say works best.

So... what you're telling me is it's not just the guns. It's their culture.

Interesting. I guess we can agree that banning guns doesn't actually reduce homicide rates if the nation has people who want to kill each other.

I wouldn’t really call that “cherrypicking”.

Lol, so ignoring everything that goes against your argument isn't cherrypicking? Dang. Stay in school, son.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 year ago (8 children)

Nah. It's my experience with both Linux and Windows.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 year ago (6 children)

Nice cherrypicking.

Thanks for supporting my point about living in a fantasy world, lol.

And surprise! They have one of the lowest homicide rates in the world.

It must be the guns, right? Not their culture? What about nations that ban guns but have higher homicide rates than Japan or even the U.S.?

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 year ago

Both. The experience was horrible on both.

I just updated to KDE 5.27.8 and now icons don't light up, the date doesn't light up, and neither do icons on the taskbar anymore.

Is anyone else having this issue?

Does anyone know a solution?

I used to love these as a kid. Been looking for them forever, found them and see they don't see them anymore. Are there any alternatives? Preferably something I could get at Walmart.
