Definitely an all time "worst person you know just made a great point" moment.

There's obvious connection between today and the 2000 election's Bush v Gore court case. I suspect he doesn't see it that way, and there's a kernel of truth: applying political muscle to cause a clear coin-flip election to land your way isn't the same as riling up a mob after a clear loss. It's still categorically the same though.

Goes to show the current authoritarianism in the GOP isn't new. What's new is scope, and what enables it is the lack of guardrails within the party.

That said, the upcoming threat needs to be taken seriously, and I'm willing to bite my tongue for just about anything that helps push back.

Commercial real estate loans are interest only? I had never heard of that before, but it makes sense with the buried lede:

borrowers prefer handing the property keys over to creditors over putting good money after bad

Which is what happens whenever a company has an asset they don't own and no longer want. Shrug and handover the keys. Seems to me like the lenders are going to be the ones taking the haircut, despite what the article asserts.

Send your thanks directly to the maintainer (preferably email/mastadon/twitter/etc, not a ticket)! Open source maintainers don't get a lot of positive direct feedback.

“Futurama” has been renewed for two more new seasons at Hulu, Variety has learned.

The revival of the beloved adult animated series has been picked up for an additional 20 episodes at the streaming service. Hulu had picked the show up for 20 episodes back in February 2022, the first 10 of which were released starting in July. The premiere date for the second batch of 10 from that order has yet to be announced, though it is expected to debut in 2024. The new order will bring the show to Seasons 13 and 14 (or 10 and 11 depending on how you break it down).

Hulu’s revival of the series marks the second time the show has been brought back since it originally launched in 1999. After its initial four-season run on Fox, reruns of the show found new life as part of the Adult Swim lineup on Cartoon Network and on DVD. Four direct-to-video films were then produced, which were later re-edited into a fifth season that aired on Comedy Central starting in 2008. Comedy Central would go on to air two more seasons consisting of 26 episodes each between 2010 and 2013.

The official description for the new season states, “After a brief ten-year hiatus, ‘Futurama’ has crawled triumphantly from the cryogenic tube, its full original cast and satirical spirit intact. The ten all-new episodes of season eleven have something for everyone. New viewers will be able to pick up the series from here, while long-time fans will recognize payoffs to decades-long mysteries – including developments in the epic love story of Fry and Leela, the mysterious contents of Nibbler’s litter box, the secret history of evil Robot Santa, and the whereabouts of Kif and Amy’s tadpoles. Meanwhile there’s a whole new pandemic in town as the crew explores the future of vaccines, bitcoin, cancel culture, and streaming TV.”

The entire main cast of the original series — John DiMaggio, Billy West, Katey Sagal, Tress MacNeille, Maurice LaMarche, Lauren Tom, Phil LaMarr, and David Herman — returned for the new Hulu episodes. “Futurama” is created by Matt Groening and developed by Groening and David X. Cohen. Executive producers include Groening, Cohen, Ken Keeler, and Claudia Katz. 20th Television Animation is the studio.

“Futurama” is a key part of Hulu’s recently launched “Animayhem” brand, a hub on Hulu that serves as the home to the streamer’s expansive library of adult animation and anime content.

Looks like he saw the writing on the wall. Even the slightest perception of disloyalty to Trump is enough to sink any candidate, but simultaneously Trump has zero king making ability. Don't see any path forward for any GOP candidate.

Have they posted anything about their experiences developing this? I'm curious on their thoughts of Godot vs Unity. This might be the most established studio to ship something in Godot.

I do this with emails. ADHD not austism. I'll throw this out as a suggestion:

Amazon, for its many faults, has a distinct and effective approach to writing. Put a short summary/objective paragraph at the top, detail needs/design/whatever, alternatives, whatever supporting information in an appendix, and give everything headers so you can easily find what you want. The idea is to make it pyramid shaped: the important information right at the beginning and more detail the further you go down. Someone reading it can just stop reading when they need to.

I've seen documents that are like 10 pages of 'real' content and a couple hundred appendix pages. I wouldn't go to this extreme in personal communication, but might help realize what needs to be kept or not.

Also bullet points are fine. It baffles me they aren't considered 'real' writing.
