My girlfriend (a horticulture major) thinks it may be root rot or some other form of pathogen that is travelling from the roots to the leaves due to overwatering or lack of drainage. You'll notice that the symptoms are most prominant at the base of the leaves and lower leaves suggesting that it is spreading upwards. It doesn't look like the plant is fighting it very well because normally it will kill and drop some infected leaves. Anyway I don't know the details, not my field of study but I encourage you to look into symptoms of root rot to see if they match whats happening to your ficus.

Oh man thats rough, I'm sorry you had to go through that. Speaking of smells you can't forget though, I have my own experience. Sorta, for me it was also a taste.

When I was in highschool a buddy of mine and I broke into an abandoned pool house. It was winter and about 3 am, there was a deep fog thick enough that we couldn't see eachother 10 feet apart. The pool house was surrounded by a chain link fence that had an opaque blue fabric over it so you couldn't see inside and the gate was locked with a thick padlock. We came back with bolt cutters and cut our way in instead of jumping the fence because I guess we thought it'd be cooler? Idk. Anyway we got inside through a small slat window only about a foot in height and about 10 ft off the ground. We dicked around, exploded a toilet, broke a mirror, you know how it be. Anyway eventually we found a fire extinguisher and at this point I should make it clear that this was a poolhouse that closed down in my early childhood. It'd been shut for a long ass time. So this fire extinguisher was atleast ten years expired. So obviously we used the fire extinguisher. The powder that came out was yellow and filled the room. It smelt of sulphur, chlorine, and rot. It tasted like burnt rubber. I fled the room as quickly as a possibly could coughing and retching but I could not get that taste out of my mouth nor the smell out of my noise. It made my head hurt just from the sensory overload. It took about a week for me to stop smelling it.

Anyway we also put this lifeguard chair in a tree. The camera doesn't fully capture the fog though

Spraying cologne on the armpits actually increases the intensity of body odor to an extreme. Do not do this

I recently had to stop taking my vyvanse due to some bad side effects and holy shit I forgot how bad this was. I can't do anything. I have so much shit I need to do but I sit down to do it and it genuinely fills me with dread. I am just staring at my computer. Even getting to the webpage I needed took hours of convincing. This is horrible, even caffeine isn't helping. What do y'all do? How do you manage?

Should I find a specific artist to do this and what type of work would they need to specialize in? (what words do I need to use to find this person)

I'd want it to be relatively large but I am not yet sure where I'd want it.

Here's a few fractals I am interested in to give you an idea

  • Mandelbrot set

  • Sierpinski carpet

  • fractal tree

  • Sierpinski triangle

  • Ikeda map attractor

Some if these are obviously harder than others but I am primarily asking about the sections of the mandelbrot set

Feel free to send me fractals you like as well, especially if they are scientifically or historically significant in some way you like

I am worried that I drink too much at once. I don't drink coffee daily but typically when I do drink coffee I will have 4-6 shots of espresso. I am not asking if this is healthy per se, I'm more searching for confirmation that it isn't too uncommon lol.

If anyone does want to let me know how bad for me this is then it should be noted that I also take a medium dose of vyvanse daily 💀

This is more of an evolutionary biology question but I thought I'd ask bc I couldn't fibd anything on it

Specifically what I'm wondering is why the majority of animals seem to have their brain or central nervous system located at a specific end of their body rather than near the center of mass where you think it'd be safest? I thought of this as I watched a centipede have its tail end attacked and noticed that its head and tail end look quite similar, assumedly for the purpose of fooling would be predators, and wondered why it didn't just put its brain in the middle so it wouldn't be vulnerable at the ends.

Moreover, why do we even need heads? Why did almost every animal evolve to have all their sensory organs in one spot instead of spreading them out. Why is my face where my face is basically. Are our bodies really built to be the most durable and efficient for the terrain they evolved in and why are they all so similar?

I travelled to dallas to see the solar eclipse monday and noticed something strange that I've not seen anyone talk about. At the bottom right of the eclipse during totality after the diamond ring effect there was a persistant bright white dot that looked almost like it was on the surface of the moon rather than the edge. I'm assuming this was some atmospheric distortion but I really have no idea. Thoughts?

No idea if this is possible but i would like to make it so that i receive posts in as many languages as possible but have them automatically translated in the jerboa app.

Could i write a script (or is one already available) that would do this for me locally? Would it be easier to self host an instance that does this instead? How would i go about that etc etc.

Sorry if this isn't really the place for this sort of question but i wasn't sure what community would be more appropriate.

I really prefer hardcopies but would rather not buy from like fucking amazon yk? Feels hypocritical to buy theory even more so to buy it from some corpo. Are there any leftist co-ops selling books online or should i try to find a small book store near me that might sell what im looking for if im lucky?

Ideally i am looking for something cheap but i have the money to pay a little extra if it means im not giving my money to the bourgeois

alarm app (lemmy.ml)
submitted 6 months ago by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

I need an alarm app that lets me scan QR codes. I find that it helps me get out of bed and take my meds in a timely manner. I have QRalarm but it's a onetime use alarm and I can't schedule times for certain days which I find to be really important. I normally use alarmy but it requires the Google Play store and I'd prefer to not have that yk.

Anyone know a foss option?
