The action is pretty neat I suppose, but it looks like it could get messy if you have to cut anything pressurized

I'm trying to reframe the point of the discussion, which is about IP. Nitpicking the example is counterproductive, because it's absurd to assume that no one would ever pay for a piece of software.

People are hoping, almost unconsciously, that hypocrisy still matters

The index looks at how every congressional district voted in the past two presidential elections combined and compares it to the national average.

Sounds like a poll to me. If you actually look at how the politics play out at the state level, it tells a different story.

Excellent. Have you procured the green herb from the merchant hailing from Ur?

Polls don't matter in this instance. Look at the state record, which shows a modest progressive lean on statewide and municipal politics and a moderate conservative lean on federal politics.

Missouri is more purple than people realize. They often vote against their own interests nationally, but locally they vote relatively progressive

It's not a failure of anything. Billionaires are an inevitably of capitalism.

There's an extremely common cold call scam where a VOIP calls you to notify you about your car warranty expiring, and for the low, low price of 100s of dollars they'll give you an extended car warranty.

If you truly want to help him, give him a list of post-carceral support resources, a note stating that you're only willing to help more if he truly wants to change, and a small amount of money to get started.

Make it clear in the letter that you don't want to see him in prison and that you know he's a better person than that. Do not bring up the falling out just yet in case he's willing to contact you for a real life change.

If we lost the dollar as the world currency, I think that would be the equivalent of losing a war

I hate it when bad people make good points, because the US dollar is absolutely a bludgeoning tool in economic warfare. The might of the US dollar as an economic weapon was in full display when the foreign appropriations act of 1991 severely exacerbated the collapse of Yugoslavia.

The US dollar should not be the de facto world currency, and trying to stop progress through these means will isolate the US from the entire world.

Ok so I got this idea not while showering, but because I'm very high. The story does come from my bathroom though! I have a night light in my bathroom, and I was looking at the night light as I turned off the bathroom light. I'm a big nerd so I remembered that the things that detect light levels are actually diodes wired in reverse. I thought it would be funny to make it flicker by reflecting the light back on the diode, but it didn't work. That's when I had this realization

Hello everyone! RockSlayer here with another mod update. Recently we had a metapost (found here!) seeking to amend the rules in light of a public disagreement between myself and another mod. Based on feedback from that metapost, we will be implementing a rule banning support for authoritarians. This is one more chance to provide feedback before we codify this rule as written:

Unconditional support of authoritarians will not be tolerated.

Just to be clear ideologically, we are not becoming an anarchist community or using an overly broad definition of authoritarianism. As an anarcho-syndicalist myself, balancing this rule to prevent the exclusion of statist ideologies is of the utmost importance to me; that is why the rule has the requirement of "unconditional support". If you feel like there is a better way to phrase this new rule, please give us your suggestions!

For those that don't know, I helped organize this union! The feeling is indescribable, and easily the proudest moment of my life. We won!

It's still Black History Month, so I wanted to share this older video from SMN. MLK was a black christian socialist, and this video covers how and why Martin Luther King JR has been whitewashed of his radical messaging.

To kick off Black History Month, I wanted to share my favorite interview of Prof. Davis about her activism in the Black Panthers and at college, being a political prisoner, and why she joined CPUSA. My all-time favorite quote from her is in this interview:

It was important at that time that we recognize that we could be victorious. We were not simply targets of repression, but that we were active historical agents that could set an agenda, fight for that agenda, and win.
