Variable speed limits just keep the road ticking over and they're great. In the UK there were a bunch of highway improvements being rolled out, like reversible lanes, traffic flow monitoring and, yes, full-time variable speed limits and they all worked really, really well. But they also got rid of the hard shoulder (refuge lane) and the whole thing was collectively referred to as "smart motorways". Needless to say that lots of people were injured or killed by the lack of hard shoulders, so now the government is poised to announce a rollback of all the smart motorway measures, including the absolutely superb variable speed limits.

Your phone has a feature called Work Profile that can be used to isolate your personal and work apps from each other. Normally you need to sign in to a company-specified app like Microsoft Company Portal to activate Work Profile, but Shelter is a simple, open-source app that will do it instead.

Noticed when it's right-wingers doing it in real life it's a "boycott" but when it happens in their collective imaginations it's "cancel culture"?

Just another form of racism.

Sometimes people use an AI to help them make a video. AI is short for Artificial Intelligence and is popular now and for the future. A huge amount of computers and money are being used to create AI, often with the help of Artificial Intelligence. Many believe AI will be the future of creative output and helps creators to make their content and worms. This has made some unhappy and excited. I am in pain. When AI is used to automate content creation the audience often reacts negatively to the generic and rambling contents that the Artificial Intelligence created to automate content creation. AI can be used to make workflows more effective and to identify worms. There are many Artificial Intelligences that you can interact with such as ChatGPT, Bard, Dall-E, Amazon, Google, EBay and worms.

Yeah, I'm a full-time Linux user but there are a lot of people who just seem to use Linux as a replacement for a personality and it's fucking awful.

Not limited to just Linux, obvs, but it's the topic de jure.

The trains aren't bad. They're not great, but they're not as utterly terrible as some people make out. I commute to Manchester three times a week typically and it takes ~30 mins on the train, I always get a seat and I've never been delayed more than 15 mins. At rush hour it would take an hour to drive and even an on-the-day return is cheaper than parking.

Edit to add: I go to London a couple of times a month. Not had a significant issue in years.

Rip off the lid and chug them straight from the can. The tomato slurry hides the blood.

If you live in the UK, Lidl sells an excellent cola called Freeway. Their Freeway Zero is better than Pepsi Max or Coke Zero, IMHO, and literally one-fifth the price.
