Fantastic read! Really nailed how I feel about it as well.

Exactly. I wish folks would stop with the memes.

When Trump won last time, there were multiple raids in my neighborhood within a couple months of him winning. My part of town has a large population of immigrants (I am one myself) and ICE was everywhere. A couple on Next Door, from the Middle East, was freaking out because while they're here legally, it didn't stop ICE from harassing them and threatening to take their daughter away.

This shit is not funny.

Have you never gambled and lost with a fart?

Once or twice, I had diarrhea as an adult, and thought it was a fart, and wound up sharting.

Can't be that uncommon.

Same. I'm AuDHD and his show was calming and positive. He spoke and sang about anxiety and fears for a kid who was full of both.

Also, people forget or just don't know how much garbage was on TV at the time. First of all, there was only one day a week dedicated to kids programs and what little else there was, was pretty awful. As an immigrant, with a family dealing with PTSD from fleeing a civil war, Mr. Rogers calming voice and attitude was halcyon to my little brain.

I legitimately loved his show as a kid.

It's because nobody gives a F about you.

My spouse told me about a number of times people stopped to help her when she had a flat or her car broke down. Also, one time when she bought something at an autoparts store and they helpfully installed it for her.

I had someone pull over to help one time, out of the dozens I've been broken down by the side of the road, and that one time, it was a cop. The only reason they did was bc it was 3AM and they probably wondered what I was getting up to. Other than that, never had anyone stop to help.

When I went to the store she'd recommended, the guy man-shamed me when I asked for help installing a part.

Generally speaking, men don't get much mental, physical or financial help.

I'm not saying women have it great (they don't), but there's a lot more to it than "guise suq!".

Books as a subscription is the ultimate FU.

It is now morally imperative to pirate and freely distribute information.

Hookers & blow for the producers?

You know what reduces copyright infringement? Making content available, affordable and accessible.

In the golden days of Netflix, I hardly torrented anything.

Sweaty? Like "perspires too much"?

Or sweety like "my sweet summer child"?

Sorry, ND and I overthink stuff like this.

Also, the cartels are real shit.

Border towns are far more dangerous than 20 or 30 years ago.

Good friends of mine who grew up in El Paso, who have family on the Mexican side, avoid crossing over if they don't have to. Shit's gotten real.

The Mexican government is pretty much 3 cartels in a trench coat at this point.

Well, you're on the internet. And it's pretty much just a series of tubes.

I went to Germany in '96, and was amazed how on time the trains were. If the schedule said "7:52 arrival" then set your watch by it.

Now? Not so much.

At this point, it's startlingly clear that de-industrialization is wide scale corporate raiding.

Can anyone point to a country that de-industrialized and maintained infrastructure?
