Why not? The post is more likely to drive leftists away from the Democrats than towards them. Maybe these Russians have stopped posing leftists who are trying to convince other leftists not to vote Democrat and instead are posing as centrists in order to alienate leftists. There's just as much evidence for that theory as there is for any of the other baseless accusations of Russian trolling I've seen here.

Well, it's based on that assumption if you're a leftist. Harris has spent the last two months tailoring her message to center-right Republicans, but if they vote for Trump or the Libertarian candidate, the centrist Dems aren't going to blame them. However, if the leftists that her campaign has been deliberately ignoring vote third-party, then they're entirely to blame.

Anyway, if you live in a swing state, you should vote for Harris, harm reduction, etc., etc. But if the Democrats are going to exclusively target centrists, it would be nice if they blamed the centrists for not voting for them.

The Dark Knight trilogy really wanted to be a realistic, grounded take on the Batman mythos, so they dropped the more fantastical elements of some characters' backstories. Ra's Al Ghul was no longer immortal, Bane didn't have super steroids, the Joker wasn't permanently bleached by chemicals...then there's Two-Face.

I guess they thought acid burns were too unrealistic, so they gave him regular burns...apparently without knowing that burns that severe would be so painful that he wouldn't even be able to remain conscious, much less run around the city on a killing spree. I mean, you can see exposed muscle in some places. There's a line where Gordon says he's rejecting skin grafts, and I remember thinking, "WTF are you talking about? He should be in a medically induced coma, not making healthcare decisions." Half of his body was an open wound; I'm amazed he didn't die of infection 15 minutes after he left the hospital.

Do they think your odds get better if you're get thrown down a metal tube on impact?

Their demand has always been one thing: "Can you stop using my tax money to bankroll the funding of my family/friends/friends' families".

Actually, their demands were much smaller than that. They wanted the DNC to allow a Palestinian to speak at the DNC in order to bring attention to the destruction in Gaza and call for a ceasefire (which is totally in line with Harris' position). The DNC refused, so the Uncommitted movement next asked for Harris to just have a meeting with them to discuss Gaza, and gave her a month to do so. Harris ignored them, so they refused to endorse her. The whole movement was basically, "just make any gesture towards the Palestinian community," and the Harris campaign refused. It really was a massive unforced error on their part.

Sooner or later, you will get trapped somewhere forever. Over the course of an infinite lifespan, the odds that a building collapses on you or a tunnel caves in on you basically become 100%. Someday, you will fall into the hole that you will stay in until the sun explodes, and then you will drift in the void until the heat death of the universe.

Who is this for? They're acting like getting endorsements from the families of Bush and Cheney is like getting an endorsement from Ronald Regan, but Bush and Cheney were not popular at the end of their administration; they started two interminable wars and ended with the largest recession in recent history. Trump cut his teeth in 2016 by trashing George Bush and curb-stomping his brother in the primary. Conservatives who are still open to Trump probably aren't huge fans of the Bush family! All this is doing is demoralizing the progressive base and showing conservatives that the kind of Republicans they rejected in 2016 support Harris.

Funniest thing is that if that dude had just said, "Cuba," this would have been a non-issue. The joke structure would have been exactly the same, and it would have still been a dog whistle for racists, but Cuban Americans are largely anti-communist ex-pats. They probably wouldn't have been thrilled to hear Cuba described as garbage, but if they got angry, it probably would have blown over by saying, "the joke was a reference to what communism has done to cuba." Instead, he picked an island full of people that can easily move to the US mainland and vote. Absolutely spectacular.

The original commenter did give an example. They referenced the DNC not allowing a Palestinian to speak (which, again, is cited the article that we all presumably read before we started commenting). That example was met with, "citation needed."

Anyway, I'm not familiar with the quote you gave, I feel no obligation to look it up, but I do feel entitled to your time and energy. Provide me with a hyperlink proving it's real or it never happened.

Yup. We gotta vote for them this election, but replace them in the next. Otherwise, we're just hitting snooze on fascism for another 4 years.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 4 days ago

What about my original comment led you to believe I thought they were equivalent? As I said, Republicans are vile, hateful, and exploiting our political divisions for power. But the Democrats are just as responsible for the material conditions that have allowed facism to flourish, and demanding accountability and change for that isn't nitpicking. If the Democrats don't stop being corporate stooges, this doesn't end if Trump is defeated; it ends when another fascist finally wins.

Where's that quote from? Citation needed.

Tankie's original use was for British communists who supported Soviet military expansion. In the modern sense, it is used to describe communists who are authoritarian-apologists. For example, a communist who romanticizes the Soviet Union or makes excuses for the Uyghur genocide is a tankie. I've also seen it stretched to include militant anti-capitalists, or more commonly, "militant," anti-capitalists who call for violent resistance to capitalism from the safety of a keyboard.

Democratic-Socialists are not tankies. Socialists are not tankies. I don't even think most communists qualify as tankies. Criticizing Democrats does not make you a tankie. Condemning Israel's human rights violations does not make you a tankie. Voting third party doesn't make you a tankie. I see this term used here every day, but never correctly.
