This sort of tech is already disrupting the corpos by shattering copyright as a sham that the rich use to continue to enrich themselves. Hell, it took 104 years for a goddamn black and white cartoon about a mouse driving a steamboat to enter public domain, because Disney and other rich corps kept pushing the copyright laws in their favor.

This is why open-source and freely-available research is an important component. This is an important time to fight for, not against, the tech, and make sure it stays in the public's hands. If we keep fighting against AI, and the inevitable, then we're going to end up on the losing side of some draconian law that dictates that only the rich can use the technology, because of some bullshit requirement to pretend to appease copyright holders that requires hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars to maintain.

A desperate and feeble attempt at closing Pandora's Box and keeping the corporate status quo in the hands of the rich.

Play Disco Elysium. It's a game for sad fucks.

The MTG crossovers just don't fit at all. It's not even a crossover. Just creating MTG cards for the universe they are sampling.

It cements the fact that WotC has ran out of ideas and has spent the past several years fucking over its fans and community.

Then, nobody there was playing BG3.

Still... Outer Wilds made me realize that I should pay attention when people praise a game to death. Like, when some game is voted as GotY and garners a bunch of rewards, I probably shouldn't just have it sitting there on my Steam list uninstalled. Maybe I won't like it the way other people do, but at least I can figure that out fairly quickly.

Life's too short to waste time on triple-A trash and bad games.

It's not PC Games. It's PCGamesN! See, it has an N!

Lot of people put TotK as one of their top games, even for how stacked 2023 was. Although, I'd be hard pressed to find anybody labeling it as GotY.

Well, it's definitely captured the Blaxploitation vibe.

I think that was sarcasm.

People often don't care to understand how much work it is to run a Lemmy instance. And the cost. I have my own website and the knowledge/money to start an instance, but I'm certainly not going to actually do that and monopolize the rest of my free time.

it’s tough for people to take how things work on a micro scale (e.g. family or friend-group dynamics), and apply that thinking at larger scales.

Because it's already very very hard to scale. It takes only a small group of people to fuck up trust models to such a degree that the whole system falls apart.

If you are not prepared for evil, evil will hold far more power that you and decimate the entire community. Indigenous peoples from every corner of the world have been punished by that hard lesson over and over again.
