"People" don't even have a basic understanding of how our elections or government works. Anyone that refuses to vote in the primaries has absolutely no right to bitch about what candidates are "picked".

The comments after the 2016 Democratic party primary was equally hilarious and depressing. Hearing "the election was stolen from Bernie!!!!!11111" from people that didn't vote in the primary was obnoxious, and the dumb-asses expected me to agree with them. "No, you moron: he lost the primary. He lost because lazy fucks like you couldn't take 30 minutes out of your day to go vote for him."

Of the dozen Sanders supporters I knew at the time 3 of us actually went out and cast a ballot for him.

People that participate in our democracy not knowing the basics of how it works is getting exhausting. The DNC doesn't "pick" canidates: voters do. The DNC absolutely throws its support behind preferred candidates, but voters still make the final decision.

"Pick someone else" also smacks of "I want someone else to do the hard work and find a viable alternative candidate for me, because I can't be bothered to put actual effort in to the political process." Nobody is stopping you from campaigning for your preferred presidential candidate in the primary -- or even running yourself if you're eligible.

For all their many flaws: Democrats leave office without attempting coups when they lose.

I'm always skeptical of the overdose death numbers. I personally know several people that died from Covid and nobody that's died from opioids.

Compact Flash cards are popular as an HDD replacement in retro computing -- with the downside of no sound.

Luckily people have made a device to emulate the sound of a real hard drive.

"Apple juice" in the USA almost exclusively means clear, filtered apple juice.

In the continuum of "ethical billionaire" (as much as that's possible) to "evil billionaire" she's pretty much "neutral".

Every single one of my "internet facing" devices is blocked from accessing the internet at the router. If I want to access them they either get added to my HomeAssistant instance or another computer that's only accessible from the outside through my VPN.

All of the convenience with the privacy concerns practically eliminated. It costs $6 a month in hosting for the VPS I set the wireguard server up on.
