Nice, hopefully this fix Sync for Lemmy issues with sorting.

It's a matter of time when they build those individual pods from Ready Player One to force us to work like slaves 👀

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Yes, but this did not translate well into the native app.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Wait is it?

How exactly? Haha.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Yes it is a thing, and it is a beautiful thing.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

Oh... this is my kind of shit!

I also agree that title works better on top of the image!

Oh dude, I'm watching the X-Men cartoon from the 90s for the first time and I totally hear you! (Yeah, it was sitting in my backlog, late is better than never I guess).

The humans find any fuckin time to mess up with them!

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Seems like a bad combination.

I think is not possible yet.

Because it doesn't work for Amazon (it kinda go dark, but buggy) and Zepp Life, and probably others.

My device is rooted.

This is by far one of my favorite Sync for Reddit (and now Lemmy) features.

Do you want to go to a different subject from your current feed but you don't want to lose the feed position? Just hold the community or post you want to go and it will open into another "app window"

Sync for Reddit/Lemmy already handles the RAM in a glorious way by not being closed or losing the content that quickly like many other apps, with this nice extra handy feature you can even improve more your navigation!

EDIT: The feature is called "Long press cards to open comments in the background" and you can check it here:

Settings shortcut: Post options > Long press cards to open comments in the background

It only works in cards and slide views for posts, and I think it works for communities in the explore section with any view type.

Since I got a nice extension called Dark Reader for Safari on my Mac I fell in love with that extension, now I can't stand webpages which do not support system based dark mode, and this happens on Android too.

I am using Chrome as my default browser and since it does not support extensions I think it would be hard to achieve this.

Do you know about a workaround for this?

As many of you I am a fan of Mario games (although I have yet to play some mythic titles like Super Mario Bros 3 or Super Mario World) and I just recently finished Super Mario Odyssey and loved it, I completed it at 100% (something that I rarely do) because I felt in love with the games mechanics, regardless I felt it was a bit overwhelming from time to time.

I played it "for fun" like half of the time, the other half time I was just playing it with a guide on hand because I HATE FINDING HIDDEN STUFF, the backtrack needed for this and attention to detail is too much for my taste.

I understand some people like this treasure hunt kinda quest, but it is really not for me.

As Super Mario 3D Land aims to be a "handheld" game I expecting it to be simpler, but, after all this is Mario and I'd finish enjoying game mechanics again, to the end to want to complete it, I just don't want to have the guide on hand all the time, it would be nice if all hidden stuff wasn't that well hidden lol.

Anyway do you think is fair to compare them?

Or I'll be fine playing the older title and "stress" free?

I just found ChatAll and I have been using it on macOS and fell in love with it, it is so useful because IAs are not perfect (despite what Hollywood wants to believe lol) and having different answers from different services is so cool.

I just downloaded ChatGPT for Android and now Bing, but I would like one app to rule them all.

Hi all, I am currently using a MacBook Pro 15" mid-2014 with the following specs:

  • RAM 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3.
  • Processor 2.5 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7.
  • Graphic cards Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB/NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2 GB.

It is running with Big Sur 11.7.9. Recently, I had its battery replaced because my old one was in bad shape, and it had even swollen a bit. The new battery is from the manufacturer Simplo, according to coconutBattery app.

I've been experiencing some issues, particularly when using macOS on battery power only, something I hadn't done in a long time due to the poor state of my previous battery. The problems I'm encountering are as follows:

  1. Overall slowdowns, laggy cursor, and beachball, especially when the battery percentage drops below 80%, most noticeable when it goes from 60% to lower.
  2. Freezing my Mac, causing macOS to crash and returning to the login page.
  3. In the worst-case scenario, a kernel panic, followed by a reboot.

Through my investigation, I have identified two processes, configd, and powerd, as the main culprits. Configd always uses 100% of the processor when the battery is the power source and I'm engaging in moderate to heavy usage with my Mac.

By this, I mean using applications like Spark mail, Safari, Activity Monitor (to track down issues), Telegram, Evernote, Todoist, Discord, and occasionally Notion and Element app without any image or video processing apps (which I would refer as heavier usage).

Reproducing these issues is quite simple – just let the battery drop below 80% and start using the aforementioned apps while unplugged. If issues arise, quickly plug it in, and you might regain control (though sometimes this approach doesn't work, depending on how long it remains stuck).

While I've found some information about configd and its behavior, the available advice mainly consists of workarounds, like manually killing the process (which doesn't work in my case because it auto restarts quickly). The closest source I've found addressing this is a macrumors forum, which also happens to be from this year. I also found a comment that describes my experience accurately.

I'm wondering if this might be a hardware failure or perhaps some kind of battery-related issue (battery gate, maybe???).

I also use BootCamp with Windows 10, and I haven't noticed any slowdowns or crashes when running on low battery. It seems to be isolated to macOS albeit my usage on Win10 is minimal compared with macOS.

Here is a list of workarounds and fixes I've attempted so far, without success (in what I believe is chronological order):

  1. SMC and PRAM reset immediately after battery replacement, but it didn't help.
  2. Testing on Safe Mode with Safari and some other tabs opened plus YT playback, almost instant macOS crash.
  3. Reinstalled macOS without using Time Machine backups to get rid of any lingering issues from previous setups.
  4. Removed my ethernet driver (using the Asix USB Ethernet app).
  5. Minimized usage of the aforementioned apps, which seemed to help a bit, but I still experienced crashes when using Evernote with a background YouTube video in Safari.
  6. Tried turning off Wifi and BT (one at a time and both together) using the ethernet adapter to maintain Internet connection, but it didn't resolve the issue.
  7. Another user on a macrumors forum suggested that having another administrative account active somewhat might help, but it didn't make a difference for me.
  8. Attempted to kill the configd process, but it immediately auto restarts, causing further issues with macOS.
  9. Reduced peripherals such as my MX Keys keyboard and mouse (since my trackpad is faulty, likely due to the previous battery, and the stock Apple keyboard works fine for about 8 seconds then it stops registering any inputs for 1 second and repeats this behavior).
  10. Removed my Ugreen dongle to rule out hardware issues, but it didn't fix the problem.
  11. Someone else in the macrumors forum mentioned that disabling IPv6 support could help, but I couldn't do it with my Ethernet adapter, then I disabled it for Wifi, it didn't resolve the problem.

I may be forgetting some workarounds or best practices, but these are the most prominent ones that come to mind.

Here is some information about my new battery:

Model Information:

Manufacturer: SMP

Device Name: bq20z451

Pack Lot Code: 3230

PCB Lot Code: 3230

Firmware Version: 2d31

Hardware Revision: 322d

I've also included my last kernel panic report for reference.

What are your thoughts? Could this issue be related to old software and hardware, or could it be linked to my hardware or the new battery itself?

This is the most bizarre issue I've faced with my Mac so far, and as I mentioned earlier, it's possible that this problem has been present for a while because I used it plugged in for so long, both for me and others.

I don't know what is wrong with my custom ROM (Paranoid Android) it is pretty much perfect it lasts all day and beyond (about 10 hrs of SOT with mid usage in my phone from 2020) and yet I struggle with the RAM management.

I am rocking a Poco F2 Pro which is EOL as of now, even when I moved from MIUI long time ago (is not that I don't like it, I just like AOSP more) one awesome feature I loved was the ability to lock an app so the aggressive MIUI RAM management would not kill it in the background, I used to pin a Reddit app for this matter, and now I want to do the same but with my Lemmy clients.

My device has 6GB of RAM and I feel that many apps reload a lot (Discord being one of them) anyway I only want to keep always active the Lemmy app now (only one at time since I use too many).

It's worth to mention that my device is rooted, so whether you know a handy trick to achieve this or with a mod I'd appreciate it... I have tried the battery restrictions feature but I don't think it is working the same as it was compared to MIUI's feature.

Normally a custom ROM handles the RAM way better than any stock ROMs because it comes with less bloatware and whatnot, but I am feeling I can only multitask 2 or 3 apps and nothing else.

I read you fellow android users!

Hi, I have mentioned it before in some release posts, but I'm gonna post it again:

I feel the current font is a bit harder to read compared to other apps, whether you are using black or white theme, especially in the comments section, I am not a fan of the bold style, but maybe giving it a bit shouldn't hurt.

The second request is about the sorting feature, it would be nice to have quick access to such a feature instead of going to the dots menu at the bottom.

Something like at the left of the profile access would be nice (or maybe replace the profile access? IDK).

And finally I have noticed that the option to post links is missing in the text box, it would be nice to have it there, and maybe an option to reorder such features or at least put at first the missing link one and the picture button.

Greetings!

I have never seen this movie, seems like a good date to give it a try!
