Did you import that email elsewhere? Or is it in a readable format that is even usable? Would love to know

I wonder how much it'll cost here, and how long it will be before it gets delivered lol.

YouTube is experimenting with a new feature that generates summaries for videos written by AI, but you probably won’t see it just yet.

It’s not uncommon to see strange new features come and go on YouTube’s mobile app or website. That’s the nature of a constantly changing service. However, it was only a matter of time before YouTube started introducing some form of AI. Google has made big breakthroughs in the field with Bard and Google Workspace’s new Duet AI feature set that brings the tech into your daily workflow, for the better.

  • What is the Wi-Fi card you're using? Some cards using a Realtek chipset have bad performance.
  • Check and see if the antenna is being obstructed by the case on S920, or if there's anything metal nearby that could be causing interference.

As to how you can go about debugging it, that part is hard. I've suffered from frequent disconnections on my OpenWRT install on a router, and I had to trawl through the system logs (it's there on LuCI) to see what was triggering the disconnection when using the AP. After you find the line you think could be it, Google for it to see if anyone else has had similar issues. Ask on the OpenWRT forums since people on there might have come across it and have a solution.

You should also check to see if a reconfig of a very basic AP triggers the issue.

Google has committed to adding new data transfer capabilities to Takeout, including for YouTube, next year in response to an investigation by Italian competition regulators.

According to Reuters, this was the result of an Italian startup that works on data exports filing a complaint about the portability of Google data. In response, Google made three commitments that the regulator has accepted to end the investigation.

Google's earthquake warning system failed to get to many Turkish residents before February's deadly tremor, a BBC Newsnight investigation has found.

Google says its alert system can give users up to a minute's notice on their phones before an earthquake hits.

It says its alert was sent to millions before the first, biggest quake.

However, the BBC visited three cities in the earthquake zone, speaking to hundreds of people, and didn't find anyone who had received a warning.

The system works on Android phones, essentially any phone that isn't an iPhone. Android phones, which are often more affordable, make up about 80% of the phones in Turkey.

Android is struggling to keep its market share in the United States, as Apple continues to take over in the market. But, despite Android as a whole losing ground, Google Pixel phones are becoming a bigger slice of the US market.

Counterpoint Research reports that, in Q2 2023, US smartphone shipments dropped by 24% year-over-year. That includes both iPhones and Android phones, and virtually every brand saw a drop in shipments. Samsung saw US shipments drop by 37% while Motorola saw a 17% drop. TCL saw the biggest decline at just shy of 70% year-over-year, and even Apple saw a 6% drop.

Facebook and Instagram users see wildly different political news in their feeds depending on their political beliefs, but chronological feeds won’t fix the problem with polarization, new research published Thursday suggests.

The findings come from four papers produced through a partnership between Meta and more than a dozen outside academics to research the impact of Facebook and Instagram on user behavior during the 2020 election. The company supplied data from around 208 million US-based active users in aggregate, totaling nearly all of the 231 million Facebook and Instagram users nationwide at the time.

The Google Maps app for Android has, for years now, had the same old voice input that’s slow and not as accurate as Google’s latest offerings. Finally that’s changing, as Google Maps is rolling out a new voice input experience powered by Google Assistant.

If you were hoping for some additional software flexibility on Google’s new Pixel Tablet, you’re in luck as LineageOS support has just been added.

Available now through the official LineageOS website, you can now download and install the custom ROM on the Google Pixel Tablet. The “tangorpro” builds are based on LineageOS 20 and bring support for added customization and extra features, such as a PIN unlock that changes the order of the numbers on each unlock.

I add it through their web interface. I signed up several years ago, but I spent 2020 and 2021 updating OSM for my city to be as good as Google Maps for major places, posting their open and close times, better pin placement and such.

Man, I loved ICS. I've spoken about this before on a post from a few days ago.

Here's when I used ICS as my main operating system on my computer for over a year

Oh man, the LG Optimus One! That was a pretty sick phone. Ran stock FroYo OOTB. Can't recall if it ever got an update to GB though

Android tablets are just hard to come by in a good configuration. Last time I found decent ones were in 2013: Nexus 7, and before that the Motorola Xoom.

Both had great support for custom ROMs.

There's also the fact that modern Android has simply gone away from the design philosophy that set android tablets apart in Honeycomb.

[-] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

Maybe in time. Most Xiaomi devices are pretty custom ROM friendly, so it shouldn't be a huge problem as such.

Back when I had my Mi A1, I used to run a Pixel 2XL GSI ROM that enabled the same feature.

I used that to take a screenshot, and later, show the accessibility menu when my power button and volume buttons stopped working.

CC: @[email protected] who is the only person I know that still has their A1

I used to edit on phones back in the day, but since I spend most of my time these days in front of a PC, I just edit it directly on there.

I really do like the Pixel Fold though. Interesting device, and is looking to do something new that Pixels (or Nexus) have never done.

It's kind of sad how Evanescence faded away after their initial two albums. Off this album, Bring Me To Life was my fave

Used to listen to that and songs off Hybrid Theory on the bus to school

Home of Christine and the Queens, Manu Chao, Justice, Metronomy, Parcels, Ed Banger Records…

I've never heard of any of those artists...
