Hello Everyone,

It's been a fun few months.

Lemmy is fascinating beta software, and I believe the future of the web forum. I also, unfortunately, believe that Rabbitea.rs may no longer be running Lemmy in the near future.

The reality is that Lemmy is very unstable to run, resource heavy, and difficult to affordably scale. These problems are solved as fediverse projects mature. Rabbitea.rs cannot afford to wait for that.

I know there are a small number of you who use this service very regularly - it is in your interest to create a lemmy account elsewhere and migrate your subscriptions.

Rabbitea.rs will return to the Fediverse! It won't be Lemmy.

"Based on your consent, we may collect and use your biometric information for safety, security, and identification purposes," The revised policy of X(Twitter) is expected to go into effect on September 29, 2023.

The thing is, biometric data is permanent and can't be changed. If we share that with X, it could mean lifelong privacy risks. And seriously, I can't think of a single reason why Elon needs to know where I went to high school for data security purposes.

People keep talking about leaving Twitter, but when will they actually do that? I guess they'll just keep putting up with it, and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Some of you may have noticed the recent explosion of malicious bots uploading illegal material onto lemmy communities.

Communities have been forced to shutdown, or restricting their users privileges. We've seen this before across small communities and Fediverse projects alike, and unfortunately this is part of the growing pains of running a community on the internet.

What does this mean for Rabbitea.rs? Put simply, we have put contingencies in place. Uploads to rabbitea.rs - and cached images from other sites - are scanned and matched to known hashes of abusive material, and will be reported to the authorities in the proper jurisdiction of the uploader.

This is a major problem on the internet, and we take it seriously. Thanks for your continued support.

Gizmodo's tests find the College Board website shares GPAs, SAT scores, and other information with Facebook and TikTok via tracking pixels. The College Board has a years-long history of sharing and selling student data.

It appears to be a polish instance - I can't see any spam from their domain appearing in our logs as of late, can you point to examples?

It's possibly one of the most supportive communities you'll find, but without the right resources, Amazon could squander it..

Hi There! This instance is a general purpose instance. We've got a couple fairly sleepy local communities and federate with all the cool spaces.

It's run by Lagomorph Labs, which names all its projects after rabbits. It's not necessarily themed in any way.

Yup; it's related to this error: https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy-ansible/issues/96#event-9619766061

The site works as long as I don't set an icon. Part and parcel of running beta software, i suppose.

Over the past one and a half years, Stack Overflow has lost around 50% of its traffic. This decline is similarly reflected in site usage, with approximately a 50% decrease in the number of questions and answers, as well as the number of votes these posts receive.

The charts below show the usage represented by a moving average of 49 days.

Tesla has consistently exaggerated the driving range of its electric vehicles, reportedly leading car owners to think something was broken when actual driving range was much lower than advertised. When these owners scheduled service appointments to fix the problem, Tesla canceled the appointments because there was no way to improve the actual distance Tesla cars could drive between charges, according to an investigation by Reuters.

We've updated now, besides some issues with the CSS styling everything appears to be functional - but let me know if you see any weirdness.

I just tried upgrading and it blew everything up. I'll be waiting for some comments on stability from other admins before we push forward again, expect one to two weeks.

You should check out the OpenNic project, which is an organization that has already attempted what you're describing.
