Sorry, but in my book, nothing, absolutely nothing, justifies random violence. Your justification of it sickens me and I'm surprised that you got so upvoted. I've been on the breaking point from things that were happening inside my own home as a kid, but I never took it on my little brother, or other kids. Instead, I was taking it against the actual aggressor (my father), even if it resulted in more beatings and hairline broken jaws, and put the knife, or the gun on my head. So, yes, I've been through some shit myself. But I protected my brother and my mother as much as I could. Doing random violence, as you described it, against people who might have their own cross to bear is not justified. EVER.

And yes. They CAN act against Bezos, Musk, and the board of Exxon. They can easily find where these people are, paparazzis certainly can. Every second day we have pictures of Bezos with his darling gf. Get organized so the locals can take it against him when he visits somewhere. But you don't act against your fellow citizen who is also a victim of oppression and climate change, or destroy classic works of art. What kind of BS is that??

I will start by saying that I dislike most of what History channel is putting out there (e.g. Ancient Aliens), and I always had a dislike for the nearly laughable claims of the Skinwalker ranch books (e.g. the dino-beaver!).

However, now that the Ranch is under new management, some new things have come forward that make more sense than the outlandish old claims. So one evening I was bored and started watching the Secret of the Skinwalker Ranch on Hulu.

In the 4 seasons (3 on Hulu, and the new 4th one I purchased, since I don't have cable), quite some extraordinary things have been shared: compasses not working, constant equipment failures, UAPs in the sky the moment experiments were done, directed radiation, time dilation, and invisible anomalies hanging in the air (one at ~30 ft, and one at ~10000ft) that they measured their effects on.

For me, the two most interesting things they've found are these:

  • A system of tunnels under the ground, that go all the way in the mesa/plateau. When trying to dig to them, the drill goes through the ground like butter, but when arriving at one of the tunnel, it can't penetrate it. When the drill is removed, its teeth are not eaten out, as you would expect from a hard substance. It's as if it's a spongy force field, rather than diamonds...

  • At the suspending anomaly, they tried to put telescopes to lock into a star, so when the star would pass behind the anomaly, they would see if light is bend or not (that would indicate something cloaked). Well, when they did that (s3, e4) the telescope would lose its database the moment that it would turn towards the anomaly. These telescopes were not internet connected, so whatever was going on, it was affecting its EPROM chips. When manually turning the telescope away, the software would work again. In more than one occasion the experiments were interfered with, and the phenomena would get more aggressive when new experiments were to be done.

Now, I know what you're thinking. It's a reality show. And these are usually scripted. But I dare say, not in this case. The new owner of the Ranch is hellbent to find otherworld creatures (for his own reasons, some of them religious), and he's serious about it. The rest of the cast there is serious when interviewed outside of the show. When a debunker from NYPost visited them and asked to camp alone on the property, they were genuinely extremely concerned about him, and he had a health waiver signed.

Travis Taylor PhD, their main scientist in the project, who is also part of the Pentagon UAP task force, is adamant that whatever we see on the show, is real. Not only that, but History Channel had to remove some happenings, because they were too disturbing. E.g. Taylor was hit by radiation, got radiation burns and was sick for a week (peeing brown), losing hair, while no one next to him did when it happened (directed beam?). In other occasions he was throwing up and feeling bad right prior to an experiment, but when he entered a Faraday cage, the problems were disappearing. The moment he was coming out of it, he was sick again.

A camera crew member quit over those things.

So I'd like to ask the community here to give a second look at the show, at least seasons 2-4 (first one was a bit boring as a season). I think that there's something going on there for sure. And unfortunately, the show is all we are gonna get, because I don't see them publishing any peer reviewed research papers, since the show seems to have a US intelligence component to it behind the scenes, and its findings will be kept under lock and key (as it happened with Bigelow).

If I had to make my own guess, I'd say that we're looking at 4th dimensional objects being embedded in and out of the mesa there. We can see their effects with instrumentation, but not directly with our eyes. There are many abductee reports that they reported that they were escorted into bases deep on Earth, were tests performed on them. I think that the Ranch is one of these alien bases (and if there's one, it means that there are others too elsewhere).

I don't buy the main theory by Travis Taylor that this is a natural wormhole (in fact, I'd call that theory of his to be disinformation). The phenomenon there has intelligence and it interacts every time there's experiments to be done. That feels like an alien base to me, that has security measures. All the ghosts, skin walkers, and dino-beavers(!) that were reported in the past, they're probably just AI-driven security measures that interact with the consciousness of the surrounding people, to keep them at bay. Up until Bigelow, these things were passing as real things because ppl believed in them, but now under the new regime at the Ranch, where they are more straight and narrow with their science, NONE of the monster things are happening. Instead, we see direct interference with their experimentation, and direct attacks on the principal scientist. The phenomenon itself had to adapt.

My favorite is PixelFed. I'm an artist, so Instagram was important for me, but for a few years now it's absolutely terrible (no reach at all with their special algorithms). PixelFed fixes all that, it replicates the feeling of IG as it was 8-10 years ago: chronological feed, tag-based, no extraneous features. I'm really enjoying it, as I can finally grow again my followship as an artist: https://pixelfed.org/

Is it on f-droid? I don't have google play store, I run a totally degoogled phone.

I grew up very poor in Greece, and my mom used to give us a slice of bread that had poured white sugar on it, and... olive oil. It was many years later that I realized that these were deconstructed donuts.

[-] [email protected] 22 points 1 year ago

I always use the subscription feed, in fact, my custom homepage has a link to specifically that page. However, my husband didn't even notice that there was such an option and only uses the recommended feed (we talked about it recently). I personally can't stand recommendation engines. These have destroyed my art business in social media platforms. I need chronological.

It's lack of vision, and corporate control. These amazing writers and directors who signed in for this project did it for the bucks. They delivered a cookie cutter product, as the boss asked them to. They didn't approach it with passion, with innovation, with blood-pumping mystery and intrigue. It's just a well-paying job to them, and a resume line. So, it doesn't come out good.

At this point, I dislike ALL marvel TV shows on D+. Loki was the best for me, but they kind of destroyed his character, so that fell flat too.

From the Star Wars side, the first 2 seasons of Mandalorian were good, and also Andor. Neither Boba Fett nor Kenobi were good (they felt as flat as Marvel shows feel). Andor is probably the most well done show in the whole of D+. And the reason for it is simple: Tony Gilroy was left alone to realize his vision, a vision he always wanted to do, but wasn't given the opportunity before. In fact, Disney was completely hands-off. Neither Kennedy nor Disney interfered, because they believed that the show will be kind of underground (and indeed, they didn't market it much). So they kind of ignored it. The ONLY thing they asked Gilroy to change was the F-word in the last episode.

But in the Marvel side, everything goes through Kevin Feige, and everything get homogenized so it appeals to everyone. Hence that final feeling of blah.

For Marvel to survive, they need to give voice to talents to provide us with a unique vision, like we've seen with Andor, or Joker (while at the same time, keeping the timeline intact, of course).

That's because the algorithm doesn't favor the users, it favors the algorithm itself, brands, and celebrities. Just like with Instagram's AI recommendations, that is. There is no point dabbling into such apps. It's the equivalent of a tree falling in the forest and no one's there to hear it. I had the same problem with BlueSky btw: Crickets... Long live the chronological, federated media!

I have two personas. One with a google phone with FB (to talk to my mom to Greece), and a macbook. And another with a de-googled Murena eOS phone and Linux laptop. One of these two personas will die once I move to Greece next year. I don't mind not being able to talk to friends on FB or IG. If they want to find me, there's email, or they can join federated social media. I won't miss them.

[-] [email protected] 27 points 1 year ago

In terms of reaching lots of people I haven't had much luck with either Threads or Bluesky to be honest. I tried both, and I wasn't really that impressed with crickets. The best are chronological feeds with or without keywords/hashtag searching. For that, I stay loyal to open source, federated systems. I get more eyes on chronologically-based social media than either of any of these corporate ones.

I've had a number of weird things happening in my life: I saw a UFO in the early 1990s, then I had an abduction experience in 2000, and at the age of 40, the lucid dreams started where I had a continuous interaction with these entities until 2018 (that's when we had a fallout!). I wrote about it in more detail in another sublem (link in my history). I'm curious if you have a similar story, or other paranormal story to share?

[-] [email protected] 46 points 1 year ago

I will reply as someone who in 2015 had 340,000 followers overall in the big social media of the time (tumblr, insta, fb, flickr etc). I was the world's most popular collage artist at the time (not an exaggeration). I even got selected by NYTimes for having among the "best book covers of the year" in 2016, among other works for many magazines etc.

Long story short, for an artist to make it without a gallery (I despise the whole idea of galleries because they force you to make the same kind of art all the time), they must base their business via social media. There's no other way. And so I did, and did well. Well, come 2017, the enshitification of these platforms started happening. Nothing was chronological anymore. And since I'm not a person who shows what they ate today, or making it all about myself (I was only posting art, not personal stuff), their new recommendation algorithms destroyed my business. I used to make thousands per year to sustain my life, because each time I'd have a sale, people would SEE my post about it and if they liked my art, they'd buy. Now, my posts are served to about 1/10th of my followers, and no new users find me, because hashtags aren't embraced for finding new users anymore, everything's just recommendations. Within 5 short years since the big algorithmic, I was now making only about $100/month via my art. And that was not just for me, but 95% of other artists and photographers out there too. The recommendation system of all social media (including youtube now) only promotes a few superstars in any given field, not everyone is getting their share fair of exposure based on chronology. Many online small businesses don't work anymore because everything is not a fair field anymore. Even buying ads doesn't make a difference.

So, I have no interest in using things like Threads, where you are literally bombarded with celebrity and brands content, but almost none of the people you follow.

Reddit has followed the same line, it's just that we see it less, because it's more discussion-driven. But similar changes have happened to it -- in spirit. I still use reddit only for 3 sub-reddits that are too specific and don't have enough people for here yet. I don't use the rest of reddit.

On top of that, I'm not interested in trackers, ads, and everything that eventually lead to enshitification of these platforms. So now, I only use federated services. I have accounts with lemmy, mastodon, pixelfed, peertube, nostr, matrix, etc.

No, none of my friends are there (my husband has a mastodon account, and that's it). And I don't care if they aren't. When I'm with my mom next time I'll install a matrix client for her too, so she can call me for free (so we don't have to use fb messenger, the only big app I still use, so I can talk to her in Greece for free). Then, I won't need of these big social media apps.

As for my business, it will never come back (especially now with AI art). But at least, I have MORE eyes here on the fediverse than I have on the big social media. I posted a new painting on my pixelfed yesterday, and it got 17 likes, out of just 27 followers. On instagram I usually get 70 likes out of 3600 followers (that's on my illustration account, my other, collage account, had nearly 170,000 followers in its hey day). And consider that Pixelfed only has 160,000 users (plus federated via mastodon by some instances). Given that amount of likes on the fediverse, if Instagram was still chronological and hashtags were still bearing importance as they did in the past, my posts there could have about 5,000 likes -- given their 2+ bn users. Instead, with their recommendation engine, I get only 70 likes, and no new followers. So proportionally, I get more eyes on the fediverse, than I do on the big social media. So why would I want to go back to big social media? Just to be served Kim Kardashian content that I never asked for it? I won't.

The following is a copy of my post on the reddit post a while ago, that for some reason has been censored quite a lot by the reddit search engine. So I decided to repost it here, for posterity reasons. The original post had a lot of explanations and extra info in the comments section btw.

I've been a long hauler here on Reddit, but I have only given partial account of my experience over the years. So, here it is in one place: this is my life story and my experience with these beings: both physical interactions, and mainly, via lucid dreaming. I mention a few conclusions/opinions, derived from these experiences. I might well be wrong about them though.

  • I grew up in Epirus, Greece. I saw a UFO around 1989, at ~7pm, as a teenager. I was with my school friend at the time, walking in our small town, and she saw it too. The UFO was silently hovering above my "religious studies" high school teacher's house. He had a 4 year old kid at the time. My guess (based on what I know now about them): it was there for the kid. After it disappeared from our view, I "felt" the UFO flying above us, saw it with the corner of my eye. Upon direct look, I couldn't see anything. A bunch of other teenage kids saw the ufo that night too and reported it to the police. I confronted one of the kids a few days later at school, he refused to talk about it.

  • Fast forward to 2000. I was living in Guildford, Surrey, UK, working as a programmer. I was renting a room at some lady's house. I was sleeping, and the door was locked from the inside. I wake up to at least 2 Greys on my bed. When they realized that I was fully awake, one of the two used a "rod" on the back of my head, which put me back to sleep as if nothing was happening. In the morning I woke up and was sore and in pain. Pain lasted for days. I got PTSD from that experience, it took me months to get over it. Soon after, I started having health problems. My celiac wasn't properly diagnosed for another 10 years after that. The illness eventually left me childless due to various complications from it.

  • May 2013, on my 40th birthday, Bay Area, USA. A friend started talking about DMT, and wanted to tell him to "get off drugs". I was very anti-drug, but I thought, "why don't I first research the damn thing before I open my mouth and sound like a fool?". My research on the topic opened the floodgates of information and soon after I was lucid dreaming (I've never taken DMT btw). I met my "higher self" that called itself Heva, and later on my "spirit guide", who called herself Esther (for all I know, they could be the same alien, role-playing for my convenience). It didn't take me too long to figure out that I was dealing with a Mantis alien instead.

  • The first time I met Heva, he had an iPad-like device where all my metrics were written in it. From physical to psychological evaluations. When I was trying to take a look at it, two voices from invisible people were heard, telling Heva to stop, because I might not be ready. Heva said I was ready.

  • From 2013 to 2018 I would suddenly have a whole bunch of lucid dreams, as much as 2-3 times a week. These guys opened the floodgates for me. They would put me on various VR tests (that are dreams, but they score you at the end), they would talk to me about retrocausality, and other such things. One time, I refused to play along, and the dream abruptly stopped, and I found myself in the Void. Two higher ups appear and start questioning as to why I don't participate. Esther promises me that it would be good for me to do so. I agreed. The dream RESTARTS from the beginning, as if it was a computer program.

  • In another lucid dream, Esther was angry at me (showing me on an iPad-like device where I should have promised to do, but didn't do), so she dropped her pretenses, and looked like the Mantis she is. In fact, in that lucid dream, she hit me near the liver, got in pain, and when I was awake, the pain continued.

  • Esther would tell me the future 3 times. Two times was bang on (e.g. in 2014 she told me that my business Instagram account was to be hacked, and it did so 2 days later out of the blue), and the third time it was half-right. She stressed that the future is ever-changing, and our decisions do make up the future, so a decision can change a prediction. That third time, she correctly predicted the exact date something specific would happen, which IT DID happen when she said so, but she didn't know the outcome, because that was depending on my actions.

  • That third time put a huge strain in our relationship, because it was about something important for me, but she was not allowed to help further, e.g. to advise me. I obviously messed it up. That pissed me off, and while I don't have a conscious recollection of it, I'm pretty sure that I raised hell. My lucid dreaming stopped abruptly in March of 2018. They closed the door. It now only happens 2-3 times a year, when she wants to tell me something important.

  • One week before that third prediction was to happen, the Greys revisited me. I have the conscious memory of bringing me back only. I couldn't move, but I managed to move my arm with great effort and told them that I'm not scared of them anymore, and to let me move. To no avail, since they just put me back to sleep. Buggers.

  • The last time I talked to Esther, she told me that I need to "take care of Star", and that "it was a gift to beat my loneliness". I had no idea what she meant. A week later, I get a new neighbor, named Star, who is also an artist like me, and we became close friends.

Some of the stuff I was directly told, or figured out during that time:

  • The Mantis are often seen wearing a purple cloak, and a medallion. I asked them about it, and they said the medallion is actually a device, and not a status symbol. They consider themselves "neutral" (or at least, they strive about it). The Mantis are the so called spirit guides people experience in-between lives and take care of reincarnations. According to Michael Newton PhD's book "Journey of souls", the spirit guides have a purple aura and wear a medallion. This was written before the Mantis aliens became as known as they are today (and even today, most people only see Greys).

  • In other words: UFOs are not "people from other planets" per se. I have surmised that the phenomenon is a control AND support system for reincarnation. The planet belongs to them, and we are renting the place while we incarnate here. They are behind social engineering via religion creation, and folk myths. They are driving our evolution via intellectual, social, and of course, genetic methods. Please note, that despite speaking about re-incrnation here, I still consider myself an atheist. I don't see reincarnation as a religious thing, but rather, a system that can happen either naturally, or with technology (lately, I lean on the latter).

  • The Mantis is the most common alien seen on DMT, Ayahuasca, and mushrooms (called "insectoids" in the psychedelic parlor). When I asked a Mantis (not Esther) why it's usually them we bump into in hyperspace, he replied: "We intersect".

  • Abductions happen mostly in the astral (aka, a fourth spatial dimension where time and consciousness are more interweaving than in 3D). I believe that 100% of humans get "abducted" overtime. Physical abductions are extremely rare, and of the well known genetic kind usually. But the rest of the people are also interacting with aliens, it's just that they don't realize it, because these experiences are masked as dreams. In these interactions, the incarnated person usually undergoes tests, or gets advice from their guides.

  • In one of my astral "abductions", I was dreaming a normal dream, but a tooth was hurting me in a weird way inside the dream. I managed to wake up inside the dream, only to see a Grey above me drilling. It quickly placed me back to the dream. They basically serve VR experiences while they're doing work on you, in addition to screen memories.

  • Many people have experienced a grid in the sky, around the Earth. Easily seen under mushrooms or LSD, but some have seen it sober. I experienced it in one of my lucid dreams. I've been told that the grid is artificial and it operates via AI. It has a dual function: to manage humans who might astral project or even lucid dream by mistake, and to stop other races from interfering. The grid is what people on DMT call "the waiting room". The AI decides if one is ready to experience hyperspace or not. It is a control system. I haven't decided yet if this is a good thing or a bad thing. It might interfere with our ability to evolve in the astral as well as in the physical.

  • In another lucid dream, I was outside a US military facility, and couldn't enter. The more I'd push to enter, the more I would be pushed back, gently, as if I was trying to walk through a sponge. An entity next to me told me that I can't enter, because the US now has technology to repel consciousness from remote viewing.

  • I know that there are a lot of people who say that the Greys have no souls etc, but I'm not sure if that's correct or not. When asked, the Greys have said "we are you". It is my understanding that the Greys are the next step of human souls in their evolutionary process. Grey artificial cloned bodies ARE powered by souls, not AI (unless of course, our souls are just glorified AI too). After we are done incarnating on Earth, then it's our turn to serve the souls that still incarnate. I believe that that's the Greys' function. In service of us, foot soldiers for the Mantis and the overall system.

  • Why have this whole industrial re-incarnation operation going on (several planets that is, not just Earth)? It is my understanding and my speculation that in the dimension that we and they come from (5D), there is no causality. There is no time with before and after. Everything happens at the same time, there is only the Eternal Now. That's the physics of their dimension. To create change ("a future") for their dimensional reality, they must create change first in the third and fourth dimensions (the free will changes propagate naturally since we're part of the same universe). Hence the 3D incarnations (humans), and the 4D support system ("aliens"). Notice how the "elders" speak to the incarnating souls in NDEs or in in-between-lives hypnosis sessions: "you are creator beings, and you have a mission to do on Earth". As for the Mantis, they call our incarnations "our duty". In other words, we're agents of change, for everyone's benefit. We're workers. The elders set a plan regarding the future they want to experience, and then they send us to realize it. Via it, we evolve. You could call all this, symbiotic. Or, you could call this prison. It's probably a point of view. Or, this could be way off, I don't know. The end game, is something they don't want to share with clarity.
