Even a crapshoot is better than the straight advertisements on Google.

Unfortunately, we have bears around my parts. And bears like the fruit too, driving human bear conflict. Which means the bears are killed. 🐻 :(

Fantastic news for the devs!

The ones in the picture are hospital socks, presumably from a psych related stay.

If it's vacant then it's not their home, it's just unused housing.

Nah, there are just a bunch of alternate subs that people made after disliking the moderation.

Realistically, we're already past the point where renewables are cheaper than nuclear, so it doesn't make much sense to go into it now.

20 years ago would be a different story.

UCI doing bullshit? I'm soooo surprised.

Yeah, I think you are right in that idea. Realistically they will be clumped in high wind areas within that 5000km².

One turbine for every 12.5km²? Seems like a pretty reasonable spread accounting for space in between and geographical features they may have to avoid.

We've all got one. That pile of books waiting to be read, some of them surely doomed to linger for years as other more enticing novels are selected instead. What's in yours?

I'm not usually a huge fan of rogue-likes, but I've enjoyed a few, like Hades. I bought Balatro last week and have been absolutely smashing it ever since then. I love the way the game works, each run being so different even within the same framework, and the feeling when your build starts to go off is so incredibly satisfying.

Anyone else hopelessly addicted to joker poker?

If you've never heard of wet bulb events, get ready for a new level of climate anxiety. When the air kills you!

The massive 10 book epic fantasy series is a classic of the genre. If you've been interested in the series at all, this is the cheapest price I've seen for the whole lot.

I have completed and released my first short story, Hide. It is a prequel to the novel I am currently editing, Singularity.

Blurb

Deep in the mountain lakes of the Yukaan Empire, Tomas ij’Lu’kan, a haunted ex-soldier and recovered addict returns to a hunting hide he visited with his father as a child to scatter his ashes.

Someone is waiting for him in the darkness of the hide, someone from his past, left long behind. In remembrance of the man that was his father, he and the other are forced to confront the transgressions they have made and the secrets they have kept from one another.

A long form response to the concerns and comments and general principles many people had in the post about authors suing companies creating LLMs.

Just wondering why lemmy is on a .ml domain. (Which is Mali) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.ml
