i have nothing to say, just wanna say hi
aen
im super late to this but no fucking way did they make the red rage guy the israeli government spokesperson
where's pluto's charon?
not sure if this counts as an "international hit" since jessie ware is pretty popular already, but
this song is just eurovision ready in every way (actually a lot of the songs on her album would be good eurovision songs)
i actually love it now, i looked up the meaning behind the song and "zorra" means vixen but misogynists use it in a derogatory way against women. she's reclaiming the word using the song
im way too eurovision obsessed... there were 7 different national selection shows happening yesterday and i spent hours simultaneously watching them and going on twitter to see what people were saying
my favoute song of the season won in norway though (it's a really good rock folk song based on a 1000 year old folk song)
a very camp song won in spain that i kinda don't get. it's a grandma singing about being a bitch and dancing with two half-naked men. ...actually that does explain why it won
also a song about eating bananas almost won in malta. and in ukraine, hundreds of thousands of people tried to vote on the miia app and they had to postpone the results until today because the app crashed. the hosts actually tried keeping the show going to see if the app would start working again and the english commentators sounded like they had given up 💀
smh, it should have been called Caelus but the guy who named it didn't know uranus was greek
at least we didn't keep calling it "georgium sidus" after george iii
interesting fact about bashar murad, his dad was part of a group trying to get palestine in eurovision
luxembourg's representative for eurovision might be a zionist, since she said she "loves israel", her brother is in the idf, and she dedicated her win in the luxembourg song contest to him... also the luxembourg song contest was produced by an israeli team, the same people who worked on the eurovision song contest in tel aviv in 2019
there are artists who called for their broadcasters and the european broadcasting union to exclude israel but they're still not doing anything. recently it was 1005 artists from sweden that signed a letter for svt, but svt just said they're "in dialogue" with the ebu, so i doubt anything will come of that either. it's all expected but disappointing tbh, considering they never banned azerbaijan and the broadcasters forced them to ban russia against their will
there's a palestinian artist competing in iceland's national selection though, that's pretty cool
wouldn't be eurovision without me hating our own entry
