I’ve been programming for years, I’ve only happy when working on my own stuff. It’s like the difference between renting and owning

I have installed Linux on a dozen computers from crummy laptops to custom build with graphics card. Most went fine. For the graphics card one, I installed popos to avoid learning about internals , but I could have spent time to solve it, I was lazy.

But I recommend having several distros on usb to do tests . That way things are easiest. Some installs have default settings that work best for random computers. So just spend a few minutes on each to test sound, WiFi and graphics. 5 minutes on each to test 10 flavors

No need to mess with any text settings at all these days.. I mean, you can

So… I’m in Texas , been here a long time.

most ballot counts in the primaries and general are counted by secret software and hardware run by ultra conservative families the last 20 plus years. Recounts are not allowed and exit polls not used anymore because of unpredictability.

Nobody cares, no political party wants to change : not a topic in forums anywhere, even in conspiracy minded chat rooms, and it’s been this way forever ( since before 2000).

There is a ton of crazy that is ignored .

I’ve seen how the system works, I’ve been at the county chair level. Nobody will criticize it . There is a quiet culture of people knowing it’s invalid but decide to leave it be.

Yet another tech bro destroying an ecosystem?

It’s happening so much I think it’s like..

It’s the seeming circle of life: here, like a forest fire, it burns down some previous growth : giving new projects access to the sunlight so as to try to grow as fast as possible before the canopy closes up. Then, they too develop their own coked up bro, as an act of pollination giving more fire.

The older tech bro projects are still there, just trimmed back some after layoffs , never harming the core bros

One type of bomb, which was later given, while never stopping many other bombs. Those bombs previously on hold are used already by now in Gaza and Lebanon . ( edit county name because I flunked geography)

That was a token smoke screen, in June, to make a point in the USA , for one week of campaigning. thousands of different types of weapons and military gear were sent during this “hold”

Literally a strongly worded letter

Seems to me there has been many sponsored or wealthy who don’t mind getting a slap on the wrist, or suffer jail time after years of court. It seems to be a great way to advance careers and influence.

I’ve yet to see a regular person flouting such rules.

The system may be broken

There are vast differences between the candidates on hundreds of issues, but each brings only death to people there .

One winner would be less crass about it, but her winning would make the issue go away for most of the USA population, since it’s not a campaign threat anymore . But if the other won, most would forget it also, because the county here would be in crisis .

So the next two or three weeks is the most people on social sites will care and write about it. Then, a decline of interest. That means even less political will to help.

It keeps happening in history: people using horror suffered in the past to give cover to their own crimes. Attacking others in the name of their own holy dead.

Sharing stories or pictures of a previous genocide to make others overlook a current genocide. Accusing others of being enemies to their religion and ethnicity when voices raise in protest.

Over a hundred times in the world, in the last few thousand years. It’s just particularly galling to me to see this, now, in my name.

At this point it will only cause more terror.

The one thing keeping Israel from stopping is complete invulnerability.

It would be good to want some people there to be as safe as possible . But more people would be safe, in the whole region, more overall would live, and be healthy and safe, if there were actual flaws in defense systems.

Well, … yes that seems to be what will happen

It’s designed to be anti-infuencer

When my own feed, free of the algorithm, did not have content of interest. Because I or others took turns shouting into the void. Then I would go on the explore /front page where there was definitely an algorithm of influencers, many who had follower counts of thousands, talking about the same stuff. Many seemed to be upper middle class Americans .

I soon hated them, but many were broadcast to other instances’ front page too. Between them and lack of interaction from people I wanted to hear from, I left
