Insightful that you said this, this guy actually told me he had a bad day and having a plate of tater tots “thrown” at him was kind of the last straw when he was hoping to go out and have another human be kind to him instead of participating in a bad customer/service worker relationship experience.

tbf he was cordial to the employees but turned to me and had to vent about how he didn’t understand why Americans have such transactional relationships with one another, even when it comes to (gasp) food

Just had a bizarre experience at a bar where the French man sitting next to me was distressed that his tater tots weren’t presented thoughtfully enough to him by the waitstaff
