Honestly it would be kind of fun to hear those statistics. “This is the first time in 10 years SkipWapPallyPap has remembered an important before the date”.

I’m thinking along the lines of older spouse dies, younger spouse marries someone younger and becomes the older spouse. Then older spouse dies again and repeat. Has anything like this happened in a long enough chain to be significant? Is it so mundane no one cares?

Interesting that you had a similar experience. I commend you finishing it. That is super impressive to me along with that many achievements.

Yeah, Draconic evolution is just such a fun high bar for an ending. You pointed out something else that I couldn’t quite put my finger on. That is that most of the mods feel standalone. Some do work together but it kind of feels like you move (generally) from one to the next without much interplay. In SF3 immersive engineering, extreme reactors, mystical agriculture, botania, and pretty much all others can grow and benefit from each other. I could takle a problem from 3 or 5 directions if I want.

Thank you for that comment it helped me connect more pieces.

I for sure get that some mods are too comfortable. I use some as a crutch. But also, sometimes I just want to play some skyfactory with little worry. I try to mess with at least a new mod each time I play through and it’s not a bad thing to get into the new stuff quickly.

I guess this is kind of asking for direction, but also just airing out my grievances.

I have tried multiple times to play skyfactory 4 and have stopped every time. I just started a new skyfactory 3 and am starting to realize why I don’t like skyfactory 4. 4 feels very linear to me. Everything is centered on bonsai trees. Maybe later with huge mega farms mystical agriculture could take over but it’s way too far away and I lose interest far before then. 3 keeps helping you move forward because there are so many things to try even in early game that makes you want to push into new mods.

The second reason I stopped might just be preference, but i feel like 3 is easier to scale making the grind feel shorter. Things like extreme reactors and tinkers construct can start small and then grow with you as your production increases. I also do like that there are some mods that help a ton (some would say broken) that help move things if you know about them e.g. cloches in immersive engineering. I just feel like 4 has been optimized to draw out the grind in one mod at a time.

4 seems great and I want to love it, but I just run out of steam too early. The last time I even let myself move through some grind by using creative to fill in things once I had made a couple of something.

I am open to suggestions and people telling me I am wrong. I would just like to know how everyone addresses my issues.

Thank you all in advance!

That's good to know that I am not alone. It would also be good news at least to me that its new and might be something that will get patched out as these system changes become less new. I have toyed with the idea of switching distros just to try more options. However I feel like I am only finally getting my feet wet and don't really want to have to make massive adjustments unless someone tells me all my game problems will go away by just making that simple switch.

I completely wiped my computer and did a fresh clean install of Debian to really dive into Linux. It's how I learn best. Looking at the disks they show Ext4. I don't know if that's the counterpart to NTFS for Linux for sure though.

Absolutely. Pretty much all of them are normal launch from steam since it seems to be the most linux friendly. I will maybe venture out into other things later. And the main games I am struggling with are things like the finals and other quick fast paced games.

I just want to make sure is there a tag or something to flag this as solved? I am not seeing anything on it in the sidebar.

So I am new to Linux and have made it my main driver in the last month. So far I have been able to solve problems as they come up and I have not had major problems.

What I need from my machine is a platform to do my mechanical engineering homework, do some hobby programming, and play video games on it. I have been able to get things working for my needs on the first two accounts. I need help setting my computer up for games now.

My problem is quite a few games I have tried to play slow to a crawl then freeze my entire system. I have checked the protondb website and on games I am having problems with people often are saying that with proton it works out of the box, sometimes even when they are using similar setups as I am. I use an NVIDIA graphics card, which I know is part of the problem, but don’t have the money or means to buy a new graphics card that is comparable for the next while. My drivers are updated and most things “should” work but maybe I am missing some basic setup somewhere to help proton, and steam do their thing. I am willing to go so far as changing my distribution but am stuck right now with the hardware. Any suggestions or thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you, I did see that before and tried the first answer’s solution and it didn’t work. This time I tried all separate solutions one at a time and eventually found one that solved it.

My digital audio converter has always switched my audio. On windows I found an application that could do it, but I have been unsuccessful so far on Linux. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is an awesome picture. For some reason my brain can’t accept it without more context. I have no idea if OP would be able to answer. But is it off season? Do they clean it during on season? Is it abandoned? If none of those do people ride it like that?

Is there a quick way to see what instances are federated with each other? I know for a while (and maybe still are) beehaw and Lemmy.ml defederated from Lemmy.world. Are they still defederated? Is it worthwhile to post on their communities if those users won’t see it?

Witcher 3. So good. So hard to finish.

I have grown up around Linux and have had people like my dad use it near me my whole life. I even booted a fedora version once on a very old machine when I was younger as a way for my dad to teach me about Linux. Sadly I never really caught on at the time.

I am ready to really jump in now. Is there a beginners guide/pros cons comparison for different distribution of Linux? I am also curious about how well things like matlab, solidworks, and Office suit/libra office work in Linux.

Thank you!

Mostly the title, but it would be nice to have more options now that Reddit and Twitter have alternatives. I would love to see a YouTube and ticktock version. Maybe even an instagram as well.

I am pretty new to vault hunters and would rather not go back to Reddit for the answer. I am having really bad lag and high CPU usage playing vault hunters. I feel like my PC is not under-powered. I am able to play most games at max graphics and frame-rate. However Vault hunters has crashed from high CPU usage and has some incredibly long loading times when entering a vault. It is almost unplayable. I have only 4 chunks rendering and 5 simulated. Is there a setting or something I am missing?

I think joining a local league or group with something that interests you. I found curling. The first year you get to know people and even if you end up grouped with people who you don’t 100% click with you will be able to find other people who share an interest and would probably group with you the next year.
