Those pesky anarchists out here feeding the hungry and building dual power through community! If people can depend on each other for safety, security and human dignity how will the state continue to maintain its control!

Also, they use violence as a means of protest, only the police can use violence! No fair!

Bluesky and Threads are perfect examples of "fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me." I've got no sympathy for folks who will be blindsided when those platforms start squeezing them almost immediately.

Stockton Rush is a killer and should be charged posthumously with four counts of negligent homicide. He's just as culpable, if not more, that someone who gets behind the wheel drink and kills their passengers.

Wow, I hope Paul can defeat the Harkonen, he could do some real good in the galaxy. What they really need is to put their faith in a charismatic leader.

Also, I'm sad that Duncan Idaho died. I feel like if he lived there's no chance he would become insufferable in the distant future.

It's well known but usually taught in the later years of high school (15-17 year olds). I don't think they're teaching things like the Tulsa massacre, the Wilmington massacre, Rosewood or the MOVE bombing in schools. Maybe in AP classes which are advanced placement for college credit.

Everything we learn about the Civil Rights movement is shown in black and white and taught as if it solved the problem. We definitely aren't taught that some of the legal reforms put forth in response the the nationwide riots after MLK's assassination.

IRC is so rad. I learned to touch type by hanging out in IRC channels in the dark on a stolen shell account in 93. I felt like a hacker, really I was a goofball talking about rollerblading on a shell account that no one cared about because they got it for free with their SLIP account.

Even that Atlantic ocean couldn't stop Jim Crow. Fascinating story, hope it can still be taught in history classes in the coming years.

Lentils and rice. Saute 2 tablespoons of cumin seeds and 2 tablespoons of coriander powder in some neutral oil. Add 5 cups water, salt and pepper, bring to a boil. Put in a cup of brown lentils and reduce to simmer. Simmer for 10 min. Add a cup of rice, cover and cook on low for 20 min.

Serve with caramelized onions and yogurt if you're fancy. Skip that and serve with cheese if you're me. I shamelessly stole this and bastardized it from Christopher Kimball's mujaddara recipe.

It sounds like more work than it is. Toast spices, 5c water, 1c lentils for 10 min, 1c rice for 20 min, bob's your uncle.

A trope that I hate is that every alien planet or moon has the same gravity as Earth. Yes, I love The Expanse.

Bonus round: planets with one biome: ice planets, forest planets, storm planets. I left out desert planets, praise the maker.

Think of the saving of cutting off your nose! Sure, it may spite your face but you have to understand the shareholder value of a leaner face!
