When we built 6 years ago, we advised the builder that we wanted a Zero Energy house and that it would be audited and profiled by the SECCCA and published in their magazine.

We weren’t seeking any discount or special treatment, but it would have been a great opportunity for this builder to showcase that they are progressive.

Every step of the way, the Site Supervisor and contractors snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. It is was almost as if they were trying to sabotage the build.

It came to a head when they tried to install an “electric assist” hot water service instead of a fully electric hot water service. We never had Gas to site.

The Site Supervisor and their manager called us idiots for not wanting gas and ranted and raved. They said it was not possible to have a house in Australia without Gas hot water.

Their CEO got involved and pointed out that his house did not have Gas to site, he had two Tesla PowerWalls and 20kW of solar over two inverters and was essentially off-grid in suburbia. He got a rebate from his power company every month.

The Site Supervisor was fired and their manager was given a demotion.

Building Inspectors used to be employed by local government and were audited to prevent them being able to take bribes.

Now Building Inspectors are employed by the builder. Their whole business model is one big bribe.

BYD and VIN numbers (aussie.zone)

https://www.drive.com.au/news/byd-under-fire-customers-in-vin-mixup/

Considering that the VIN number needs to be inspected and verified for each vehicle during the entire Import/Compliance/Distribution/Delivery process, this is a pretty big balls-up.

Owning shares when you are an elected official with jurisdiction over the industry you own shares in.

Also, any political figure owning shares in a media organisation, regardless of whether it is traditional media or “new media”.

The movers were right that they should “slap whoever told” them “that BS”. They were giving them some great advice.

Years ago, after a family camping trip, we stopped at a café for Lunch on our way home. My father, my Brother and I all saw Sticky Date Pudding on the menu and decided to order it as desert.

It was the most amazing Sticky Date Pudding we had ever had, it was the right balance of moist and dry, the caramel sauce was just the right balance of sweet, salt and tart without being decadent and the date was just the right consistency, not rubbery but with just the right consistency.

We asked the waiter about it and they told the chef. The chef came out to give us the recipe and pulled out a Tinned Pudding. All he had done was cracked the tin, poured it out and put a scoop of vanilla gelato on the side.

I've finished installing my new BeiHouse rear bar. I love how light it is and how much better designed it is compared to the OEM Australian TowBar. It is styled to look like the OEM Rear bar, but with an even greater exit angle and an integrated tow hitch. Some rated recovery points are also on the way.

Let us analyse it critically;

  • change of API policies resulted in death of third-party apps.
  • exodus of content creators due to inaccessibility of official Apps and user interfaces.
  • exodus of high-value users due to lack of high-value content.
  • exodus of medium-value users due to increase is low-value content and ads.
  • increase in toxic behaviour due to lack of moderation and encouragement of antisocial behaviour.
  • fediverse (and Reddit) attracting content creators and users with better (more insular) communities and content.
  • loss of brand equity with bizarre name change.

I’m honesty surprised that it only tanked by 56%.

Also, pay attention, u/spez!

There are some local kids fixing the BMX track at the council “maintained” park near us. There are also some other locals who maintain the bench at the top of the park under the trees, with a wonderful view.

The two council-installed benches are out in the open; one has a view of a bunch of houses which face the park and the other has a view of a large tree-trunk.

Apparently, 90% of caravans are overloaded in QLD.

New Caravan owners also don’t know how to tow.

I finally got around to installing Radius Rod Protectors.

My number 1 recommendation if you are going off-road.

What are peoples’ opinions of the new Victorian distracted driving rules?

My interpretation is that they are more lenient than the previous rules in some ways but much more onerous in others.

Mueller River Campground has 5 vehicle-accessible sites, 3 pedestrian-access sites. Each site has access to the inlet beach for canoeing, fishing and swimming.

The nearby Thurra River Campground is not currently accessible due to fires and floods taking out the bridge.

What if we pay you?

I think that Lemmy does need more of the right exposure.

If you search for any Lemmy content on Google or Duck-Duck-Go, you don’t get any good results. This is probably because most people use Apps or secure browsers that don’t allow tracking.

Maybe Duck-Duck-Go need to have a !bang search modifier for Lemmy. https://duckduckgo.com/bangs

When I was at a Holden dealer, CarPlay (and Android Auto) would sell cars.

Customers would wander in, drooling over a cars performance, styling, economy, luxury etc. they’re oils then ask about CarPlay (or Android Auto): if the car did not have it, they would go cold straight away and just walk straight out the door, without even thanking the salesman for their time.

Social media company’s don’t understand what makes a Social network great. It isn’t advertising, or social manipulation, or exorbitant subscription fees and API charges. It isn’t restriction of speech or freedom of speech, it isn’t algorithmically controlled moderation and curation.

It is the people that make a social network great.
