Correct me if I'm wrong,
but I have been disliking Ubuntu because they use:

  • Proprietary pieces in their code
  • Telemetry (spyware)
  • Snap packages by default

Correct, ChatGPT is proprietary spyware.

If the interface would support self hosted (local/offline) LLMs, then I'm sure people would be much more interested.

CBDCs (Central Bank Digital Currencies),
basically FIAT 2.0,
but now with even less rights and privacy over your money.

Suyu is the most popular + actively developed afaik.
https://suyu.dev/

They host their code on their own Forgejo instance:
https://git.suyu.dev/explore/repos

Which is more DMCA proof then Github/Gitlab.

I hope ForgeFed will go into production soon,
then we can synchronize the code in between multiple Forgejo instances in a federated fashion.

How do you think news sites earn money? They do not provide that content for free,
you are their product of which they benefit.

I use NoScript,
which tells me about each JavaScript piece a website has, most if not all of them contain trackers (= data collection).

Each article,
links to a news site,
which is riddled with data trackers,
which collects info about you,
which is sold.

In addition the sites contain advertisements.

Only these 2:

Because they:

  • Spam up your feed
  • Spread depressing content (since it attracts more attention thus earns them more)
  • Try to manipulate you

Points that can help them change to FOSS:

  • Cool new features not available in proprietary alternatives
  • Awareness of privacy risks & issues
  • Battery life improvements
  • Storage size reduction
  • Security improvements

Sites that can help them find FOSS alternatives:

In my experience it's extremely hard to make someone not interested in software to try out new FOSS apps though..

Human Centipede,
that shit is banned in a few countries for a reason..

  • Forgejo: But ForgeFed, it's federation software is still under development
  • Radicle: But they have unnecessary ties with crypto stuff

I feel you :/

I'd answer with:
Because it's a privacy nightmare.

They'll answer with:
I don't care about privacy,
I've got nothing to hide.

I'll answer with:
That's a dumb reply,
my privacy is not important,
but systematic privacy is,
if we don't care about it,
we'll end up in a oppressed surveillance state like China.

And then they say "huh" and likely will continue to not care.. ;-;

However it does make some aware,
in which I'm putting my faith.

All I want to know is how it can be removed / disabled permanently from my work laptop when it reaches it.
