Imo, you never know what will happen ๐Ÿ˜„

I do sincerely hope,
that humanity will eventually opt-in to switch to a fair decentralized crypto currency like Monero.
In which case, one could earn a decent amount from early mined coins.

I hope that, because our current deficit spending / fractional banking FIAT currency systems,
will eventually lead to guaranteed hyper inflation.

However open source projects like the XMR community,
don't have the billions of funds available to market their product down consumers throats.

Which central bankers will be able to do with CBDCs (Central Bank Digital Currencies),
which are basically FIAT 2.0, but now with even less rights and privacy over your money!

So you could say I'm mining for hope that good will eventually prevail over evil ๐Ÿ™‚

Well, the post was about copilot,
so that's what my comment was about.

But I agree, fck all big-tech software.

If it's not produced by a non-profit as open source, then it's not worth your time.

(Due to anti-consumer practices, spy-ware/telemetry or vunerabilities to worry about)

Not on my machine. Or at least, I do everything humanly possible to limit it.

Either through:

  • Switching to FOSS alternatives
  • Custom patches applied to proprietary binaries.
  • Blocking network access for certain processes

I don't expect everyone to become a privacy expert though.

However I do believe systematic privacy is important, and that we should aim for better privacy laws to keep the intellectual property of the average user safe.

Now they can also train their gray area trained model (trained upon our Github projects without consolidating with us if it was alright to do so) further!

By spying on every command you type in your CLI, and phoning home to MS about it, to train it further.

I guarantee you,
If you use it, you'll be their free training monkey.

And once they used you for free,
and the product improved enough,
they'll subscription charge you forever to make use of it.

Consider backing up in NextCloud, instead of sending your private pictures to a spy-ware giant who will sell it to the best bidder :P

If the product is free, but not open source, then you('r data) is likely the product to be sold / made money upon.

Google software = Spyware with some features on top.

I hate any form of spyware.
I hate how they pampered it with a euphemism and called spy-ware "telemetry".
I hate how sheeple are sticking their head in the sand regarding the spy-ware a.k.a. "telemetry".
I hate how we still don't have enough laws protecting our digital privacy.
I hate how the world appears to be turning into a massive surveillance state...

Please come up for your rights for privacy,
by saying no to spy-ware.

Hello,

I've been a happy Belgian LineageOS + OnePlus power user for years now :)

However,
I only run with MicroG (LineageOSforMicroG to be exact) + Magisk (root),
which makes things a bit harder.

Itsme is a pain in the ass when it comes down to root,
they really don't allow it.
You'll find yourself in a never ending battle,
of you working around root detection methods, and them patching them.
If you're up for it, you can join that battle on the XDA Developers forum though :)

However, luckily you don't really need Itsme!
You can log in on CSAM,
and there enable username + password + 2FA authentication.
Since I've done that, I haven't needed Itsme anymore!

~~Belfius is rather chill then it comes down to root.~~
~~They just show a pop-up about it,~~
~~which you can dismiss, and call it a day.~~
See comment for Belfius: https://discuss.tchncs.de/post/5887554/11413267

Can't vouch for other banking apps,
however if they complain,
the XDA Developers forum is your friend

Payconiq doesn't work on MicroG though,
due to the GApps QrCode library not being implemented in MicroG yet.
This also affects my ability to scan QrCodes in Belfius,
so I just save contacts, and do direct payments without QrCodes instead.

GApps is a piece of spy-ware in my opinion.
However if you're willing to install that instead of MicroG on your LineageOS,
then you should not run into such QrCode scanning issues.

MicroG is a light weight open source implementation of GApps,
which does respect your privacy!

Magisk is an awesome piece of open source software,
allowing you to gain root access,
and modify the working of your Android through modules,
without doing permanent changes to the /system partition.

However if you're able/willing to live without this,
you should run into even less issues / complaining apps.

Or you could choose to dive onto XDA Developers forum again,
to learn on how to hide your root + pass SafetyNet.

TLDR
If you install GApps, and do not root,
you should pass SafetyNet, no apps should complain,
and everything should work.

Hi, I've been struggling with similar things lately.

So I spent the day writing out a launcher tool similar to yours, but a bit more full featured :)

Check it out at: https://github.com/Rikj000/XWaydroid

Right now it only works for KWin_Wayland though,
which in my experience has been more stable / easy to work with compared to Weston/Cage.

However I'm open to merge in support for them too :D
