I managed to build main (or rather development) on arch linux without problems (https://github.com/LibreSprite/Dotto/tree/development). Must appreciate how easy it is to build compared to Aseprite. Tho its still quite far from usable even tho it has 1000 commits, but they are putting lots of work into it.

they are "open source", but under their own license (eula), it used to be fully, there is a libre fork and they are working on a rewrite https://github.com/LibreSprite/LibreSprite

Aseprite is technically open source.. https://github.com/aseprite/aseprite

im not sure how compatible are the lemmy and mastodon api (at least the token request part might be different)

the api used between servers might be the same but the one for user interface might be different, thus breaking webstodon

Webstodon (osaki.neocities.org)

Working on a mastodon frontend (client) made completely in vanilla HTML, CSS, and JS that can be hosted on neocities. So far I got the account system working.

Neocities upload system is kinda bad... mangles up folders if you upload multiple folders at the same time 💀

I really wanned to try uploading a godot game to neocities (HTML export). The only issue was.. neocities only allows a few file extensions (kind of a bad way of limiting file upload but eh..), so what I did was change the .pck and .wasm (godot archive file holding the game data and web assembly file) filenames too .pck.png .wasm.png and relinked them in the exported js engine source file. (Now.. is this moral? 💀 I mean.. they state the purpose of the limit is so that ppl don't use neocities for file storage, which I don't, both files are core components of the page, and also, they are theoretically just some weird corrupted images 💀)

Lemmy (media.tenor.com)

Lemmy seems interesting but not mature enough.. at least the front end. It feels (to me) like its trying to be somewhere in between early 2000-2010 forums and reddit, which is a bit weird.. I'm not a big fan of the layout as its quite unintuitive, but the concept seems cool.
