Where in the study did they wrote that?

Yeah, I don't know. I feel much more sorry for the girls and women who get hit by that hatred. And they definitely do. Online and sometimes offline as well. I see it in school (in Germany) how some boys as young as 12 already bought into the incel narratives and treat the girls accordingly. This has to be stomped out.

Just checked and can't believe it only got 40 %. Perhaps it's because it was too close to the Matrix hype at the time. In my friend group we even called all these movies "vermatrixt".

When people accept something happening in a male character they do not accept in a female character that is at least sexist. If Rey was male perhaps there still would have been some whining, but the sheer amount of angry men tears online over Rey being too good is in part due to her being a woman.

Can you give a few examples of which IPs have been "re-written"? Rey for example is the protagonist in the new Star Wars movies. They weren't remakes of the old ones. And Galadriel was always that powerful.

He looks too happy and to pretty, this did not bode well with Turkish police!

Holocaust refers to the overall prosecution, murdering and mistreatment of Jewish people, that culminated in mass murder. It does not specifically only mean the mass murder at the end of the war.

It was not kept a secret from the populace that the Nazi regime was anti-Semitic from the start. There were discrimatory laws enacted openly that obviously people knew about.

I guess they refer to the mass murders in gas chambers and through mass shootings. It was not allowed to print or spread information about the so called "final solution" to the public.

What? No, what I mean is that it was known how people were increasingly aligning their opinions to the right for probably more than a decade now. Especially in exactly those areas which now voted for AFD. But instead of doing anything about it then, it was washed aside with: "Eh well it's all Nazis there anyway! What a bunch of idiots!" and that was it.

Again and again there was the occasional article where all people agreed upon how bad those people are and for a while perhaps being called right-wing or Nazi had some weight in persuading people they should seriously question their opinions. But without any further action, I wonder what people were thinking how this would prevent those people from voting a party like AFD further down the line?!

Now some of them are already at a point where they will just proudly agree that they are right-wing or conservatives. What a surprise.

Depending on how it works out with the AFD in that town, I am sure people in similar places are watching closely. This can escalate quickly. I believe, when this doesn't turn out as a complete desaster for the town, a kind of domino effect will happen and more people will feel comfortable voting for the AFD. I mean, they are already branded as right-wing Nazis, why not vote accordingly? When a 60 yo village dweller finds he agrees with some of the points the AFD makes and that makes him right-wing, perhaps being right-wing is a good thing? That's how people work and we need to step in at that point and not wait for a miracle of them suddenly making a mental U-turn.

Sorry, I didn't mean this on you specifically. Just that we can not tell people (as a society) to just live more frugal without addressing the overall problems that drive so many into consumerism. It's a bit like how people treat drug addicts. I see the same in the recent climate debate. Instead of focusing on the root issue, it is reduced to judging other people's morals or character.

I actually think something like that would be great. Not only for Reddit but also for the data your internet provider, email provider, WhatsApp, Google, Apple, etc. has. People don't realise that these companies have all kinds of sensitive data. And with "companies" I don't mean some abstract organisation but literal employees, as in people.

I am more shocked about people being shocked that Lemmy instances can see your upvotes.

I think it is quite unfair towards someone to be with them only because otherwise you wouldn't have any friends. Unless of course you both know about that.

Many people do not invest in relationships and that is the main reason they end up alone. I have seen this in other couples a lot.

For example, my father always tagged along but never had any respect for the work my mother put into relationships with friends and families. When they divorced my father became a grumpy and lonely old man who gets increasingly awkward the longer he spends cooped up alone.

He believes his way out is finding another woman. He seems to be unable to understand that it shouldn't be another person's job to "make" his social life...

A partner is no replacement for friends and they can't be the stand in for all other relationships.

Are you all building something currently?

This is my current base in Planet Crafter. You can't really make the interior nice in that game, imho, but I like the overall look and feel.

Just stumbled over this and it's apparently a completely free game where you can care for a Pixel Cat. It's hosted on itch.io, the developer is Loaf Labs.

This is the link to the game: https://loaflabs.itch.io/cat-cove-inn

Have fun!
