Back in the middle ages a king wore a long scarf and now you have to wear a tie at work.

The manipulative tactics listed in the article:

  • Consumers cannot see the real cost of digital items, leading to overspending: the lack of price transparency of premium in-game currencies and the need to buy extra currency in bundles pushes consumers to spend more. In-game purchases should always be displayed in real money (e.g.: Euro), or at least they should display the equivalence in real-world currency.
  • Companies’ claims that gamers prefer in-game premium currencies are wrong: Many consumers find this unnecessary step misleading and prefer buying items directly with real money.
  • Consumers are often denied their rights when using premium in-game currencies, tied to unfair terms favouring game developers.
  • Children are even more vulnerable to these manipulative tactics. Data shows that children in Europe are spending on average €39 per month on in-game purchases. While they are among the ones playing the most, they have limited financial literacy and are easily swayed by virtual currencies.

That was patched today.

Changes to Scoreboard (TAB) and Extra Info (ALT) Previously there was a lot of crossover between the TAB and ALT modes during gameplay. In this update we have separated the behavior of these two modes to better serve different functions. The keys used for each of these modes can be swapped within Keybinds Settings.

Scoreboard (TAB):

  • Enables cursor mode
  • Displays Scoreboard
  • Displays Damage Summary
  • Allows minimap ping and draw

Extra Info (ALT):

  • No longer enables cursor mode
  • Quick-upgrade Abilities (ie. ALT+1) each of these can be individually remapped
  • Can now more easily map ALT as an Alternate Cast button
  • Displays extra information on HUD (ie. Zipline Speed Boost Cooldown) - we plan to expand upon this in future updates

Anime has made me think Onigiri must taste amazing. I've still never had it.

I heard The Birds was a classic movie so I watched it one day. The only thing I remember is that the woman who is being chased by murderous crows runs into a bar and asks for a ride home to avoid being attacked. A guy downs his whiskey and then says "I'll drive you home, miss".

Unsurprising that a prosecutor knows how to get people to act like an ass in front of a jury of their peers.

I also thought the entire reason for treating minors differently is because they're more likely to commit petty crimes and that shouldn't hurt their future.

A teenager who did a breaking and entering made a bad decision and should be given another chance. Their bad decision shouldn't haunt them for the rest of their life because that just ensures their only option is to continue committing crimes. A mass murder should not be given another chance. That's not a stupid decision a kid makes.

Recently I was made aware that AI of 'me' falsely endorsing Donald Trump's presidential run was posted to his site. It really conjured up my fears around AI, and the dangers of spreading misinformation. It brought me to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election as a voter.

She also said the only reason she isn't being politically neutral like she typically does is because Trump posted AI pictures of her claiming she supports right-wing policies. She's now encouraging her massive fan base of young women to vote, a group that probably would have been apathetic beforehand. That's another massive unforced error for the Trump campaign.

A gacha game asking money for something useless? That's the entire model!

Players that buy stuff in these games usually see it as a donation to devs making a good game. If nobody bought any of the useless stuff the game would shutdown. That's how I treat the $10 a month I spend on Reverse 1999. Or they're a gambling addict and can't stop themselves from spinning the wheel.
