The most recent book I’ve read that is left adjacent while also just being a really good book is “the traitor baru cormorant”. The in setting empire destroys her home and kills her family so she starts taking it down from within with the power of accounting. It’s actually a heartbreaking read with strong poly, pro LGBTQ and anti-colonial themes. The world building is very interesting as well.

The lore is basically space fascism. I think their approval of the military controlling it and the fact the Spartans were created to put down a rebellion (off screen they also crushed a communist breakaway system that was also at war with an even more outright fascist state)

Tried to snap a pic in time (came out poorly) but the lil guy was grabbing the lid of a pizza box and flying up a bit to flip it open.
He eventually got the lid to stay open and repeated the process with a slice (knowing he could separate the slice is impressive as well.
A crow waddling away with a slice of pizza is hilariously cute.

I didn’t see that one, was it on the ides of March account or another one? I’m curious to see what exactly was said because that is indeed an antisemetic pivot to say directly “chuds are blaming Jews because the financiers are to blame”. There’s something very bleak about a future where humanity survives, rebuilds, and hits the wall of having exhausted the resources we need to get back to where we could have built a sustainable industrialized society. A world humanity can once more dream of the stars while knowing we cannot ever get there, the weight of the past holding us to the earth we ravaged just as much as gravity itself.
