You’ll only be right if the original residents receive the infrastructure upgrades they need. Hopefully we’ll check back in a few years and all these people will have running water, but if not then it’ll just prove that they were taken advantage of.

What would be funny would be if the AI told them to surrender and reunify with N Korea.

Donald Trump bragged that they were trying to overthrow the government of Venezuela, to stage a regime change and take their oil. Part of regime change tactics is pretending that Venezuela’s elections are illegitimate. This is just another propaganda piece by the people who want to steal Venezuela’s oil.

The most likely culprits are military personnel from the US and Norway, acting on behalf of their countries to damage infrastructure so that their countries can sell their own natural gas to Europe.

Edit: If you believe the US is suddenly above sabotaging another country for its own benefit - something it’s done consistently around the world for 100+ years - then I have a bridge to sell you.

It could be that some of that data was scraped from FB messenger.

I just looked at the Wikipedia page and I think it’s fine. They’ve cited some sources which detail the debate about which pollinators actually pollinate the plant. Compared to someone who’s got a degree studying plants, I know basically nothing. I’m just repeating what I’ve heard. If they’ve got a list of pollinators and are trying to narrow down the right one, then they’re closer to the truth than I am.

That’s only outside their native range. In Mexico, where they’re from, they’re pollinated by the Melipona bee. Mexico is currently 3rd place in vanilla production at 6.5%, so you’re not wrong to say the majority of vanilla plants are pollinated by hand, but they do have a natural pollinator. In theory, you could introduce the Melipona bee to areas where Vanilla has been imported to cut down the labor time/costs.

I like the idea of having greater screen real estate, but see the product as prohibitively expensive. If it cost as much as a regular smartphone, I would consider buying one for my next upgrade.

That’s just the price of being an invader nation. By definition, Israel can never know peace, only armistices between further acts of war. Unless they manage to genocide Palestinians world wide, they will always face attacks on their invader population/infrastructure/society. It’s a feature of colonization. Netanyahu knows this, but is trying to maintain his position by bringing home an unattainable victory.

Wait, wasn’t Guantanamo Bay where the US tortured a bunch of innocent people? You’d have to be a sick/sadistic psychopath to laugh at crimes against humanity.

It’s an interesting dance they’re doing with this article, because it’s clear that they themselves know why, but can’t say it for fear that one of their reporters will also be jailed in the future. (For those who are curious, the reason Israel is jailing/killing journalists is because it’s currently engaged in genocide and war crimes.)

When I was in university, one of the major questions of international economics was globalisation and its effects. At the time, debates on whether globalisation will bring about convergence or divergence remained inconclusive; will we be seeing cultures merging into homogeneity, or will we be celebrating plurality in aesthetics and philosophies. Ten years later, we finally have the answer.
