I work in a library in Florida and all my lib coworkers are worried about the rightoids coming for our budgets when its like, 1. The rightoids have been in charge down here the whole time and 2. It's actually deep blue New York fucking City and their Dem mayor that are cutting library budgets. By the time we get budget cuts it will have been completely normalized by the rich blue states.

If it means so much to you, hold yourself to your own standards and go knock on doors and make phone calls. There's no scenario where there's a super serious threat and your role in defeating it is just hanging out online.

I'm 33 and I just realized I've never actually gone on a real vacation. Whenever I "travel" and take time off it's just to see family in another state. I've never like, gone to a tropical island and just hung out on the beach for a few days.

Here's an idea: just make senior skip day an official day off for seniors. Just call it Senior Holiday. 12 graders don't have school that day. Police know to expect increased activity at the beaches or parks. Local restaurants and theaters get some patronage. Teachers with 12 grade classes can catch up on stuff like grading. We went through the same thing with skateboarding in the 90s: the solution was to build a fucking skatepark. You don't prevent teens from being teens, you create a safe environment for them to be teens.
