And reindex, also to throw random shit together and see if any meaningful connections come of it - well that's my explanation of dreams anyway.

Sounds like "recreational drugs".

In the end it's all the same, an arbitrary distinction (perhaps useful at times). Mankind has looked for ways to ease the pain of being human since the beginning of time.

Give me a physical game, something to do, and I'll do it till I can't walk

But I despise "exercise", it's mind-numbing repitition. Every minute in the gym I want to run away from it. I really do hate it that much.

But when I find the right exercises, I do notice an improvement in my thinking, how I feel physically (reduced intensity of chronic pain), I sleep better, etc. I was very slow to figure this out (until my 40's). Like you, I said "this stuff doesn't work", and it didn't, until I found what worked for me. Seems like no one mentions that part.

Maybe you haven't found the exercises that work for you, or you're mostly OK so what you're doing doesn't have as profound an impact (or maybe a bit of both).

If nothing else, do exercises that benefit the stuff you like to do. Skiing - do squats, etc. .

I looked at storj.io a while back, prices seemed good.

OP specifically asked:

the glowing yellow balls or the entire meatballs.

I'm sure if OP understood the text, this wouldn't have been asked.

They were all predated by the 8008, launched in 72. It could be argued the later 8000-series (8080,8085,8086,8088) are effectively variations built on the 8008.

That's a lot of development/expertise time.

Didn't the 6502 come out in mid-70's? (I vaguely recall reading about all this many years ago, and how Intel was playing catch-up to Moto and others to some degree in the mid 70's).

Right?

To whom is this not obvious? Top talent has options.

I'd say what you're (possibly) describing is something that's less specific to it's writer's time/age/moment, giving it broader appeal. If someone is 17 and writing classical style music, I'd expect most who appreciates classical to take an interest. That's just looking for new music, not a focus on staying "hip", which, again, isn't really an effective approach.

This fits with the reasons media/arts appeal the way they do - the more "base" it's appeal, the broader that appeal will be, because more/most people understand it.

These aren't my ideas - ask a professor of music (especially music history) the difference between the different classifications of music, and why they're defined the way they are.

One great example: today most people would consider Opera to be "high-falutin classical stuff that us regular folks can't grok cause we don't know Italian", when the reality is it was the popular music of it's day, with Opera performances being a rough equivalent to TV shows today. Some Opera composers knocked out 200 operas, per year.

Check out any lectures by Prof Robert Greenburg, especially "How to Listen to and Understand Great Music" or "Music as a Mirror of History", he explains these ideas very well.

And since we're not Youngs, how the music appeals (or doesn't) is really not part of our experiences.

Pop music is a thing of the moment. Not to criticize, just an observation. Because of this, I don't really get why an Old would want to try to stay hip with music. You're not young during that time, not part of what the coming of age experience is like at the time. It's not your time.

Plus pop music, by definition, appeals to the broadest group possible by being less complex - this is true of anything. I always use Miles Davis' "Kind of Blue" (a massive avant-garde jazz hit in the 60's), compared to something by the Beach Boys, Elvis, The Beatles, etc.

Everyone can grok what Elvis is singing, but even as someone who studied music theory, I find Kind of Blue challenging to grasp. And I hear/learn something new every time I hear it.

He also said he can't bring it in for lack of warranty.

Well, ignoring warranty, used pixels are so cheap you can own 2 or 3 for the cost of one new one with a warranty. Basically eliminates the warranty concern.

I've replaced exactly one phone under warranty (well, the expensive extended warranty bullshit), and since then I only buy used phones and just keep spares. It's a far better value in my opinion, and I can switch phones nearly instantly.

Warranties are practically useless, or I should say I find better value buying a 2 year old phone for a fraction of new. I can own three or four Pixel 5/6 for the cost of a new Pixel.

I prefer having a spare around. One dies, just swap Sim and move on.

Custom roms are significantly easier today, and you can buy phones with them pre-installed, e.g. Graphene, /e/, and Lineage. I'd look at those 3, noting that /e/ also provides some google-like convenience.

Every year, almost every teacher.

I am applying myself, Jane you ignorant slut (SNL reference).

I was embittered before 2nd grade because teachers wouldn't answer my questions and acted like I was being a smart ass.

No, YOU just did a shitty job explaining why something is done a certain way. "Just because" isn't a fucking answer.

College was just as bad, maybe worse.

Most teachers suck. As in about 95% of them.
