Why, just... Why?

It's a cult classic (that frankly sucks in my opinion, but I wasn't of age when it came out, so....).

I despise this remake marathon. If a movie wasn't done well the first time I can understand. But Barbarella is a thing if it's time, it will be a completely different story if done today, and will only share the name.

Like Stepford Wives. Doing that remake was pointless.

I watched the Apollo missions live

Dang, you make me feel young! (I saw a couple of them live).

I hear ya. I've reached an age where "pacing yourself" is a thing. Dammit.

I like to hike, but... I know where I'm going, I take sufficient gear (stuff in case you get stuck out there, dense emergency food, plenty of water, warm gear, etc, etc), and pace myself. Altitude kicks my ass these days. Sigh.

The big one is I refuse to do this stuff alone. Always have a hiking partner. Something as simple as a minor ankle twist can make for a bad (or deadly) time.

Thanks for the link.

So he has an arrhythmia and contues working hard? Do you know what type of arrhythmia? Everything I've read about them seems they're rather debilitating when they occur (depending on the type).

Really interesting situation here, I can't imagine working through something like that (I've had it happen, randomly, so docs can't diagnose. But it's no fun, and I can't imagine trying to do anything while it's occurring).

It's a hill I'll die on.

Ive refused to use anything FB since it first launched and I wasn't permitted to use it anyway (not that I cared).

I've never once been to FB intentionally. I've accidentally clicked a link, then closed the tab as soon as I realized.

I was sent an FB link the other day. Replied that all FB domains are blocked on my networks and devices.

Sometimes doing what you believe in comes with costs. Oh well. My life is for me, and if someone can't be bothered to look outside their bubble, put in a tiny bit of effort, then I guess I'm not worth it in their eyes. Message received.

I even have friends who've complained how shitty SMS is for 20 years. I've offered multiple solutions, and they simply refuse to change. OK, not my problem when you message me and I don't get it because SMS sucks and you refuse to solve the problem.

Nah.

Allowing others to continue in their delusions is abuse.

If I don't know you, I'll just let you go on with your life. But I'm not letting friends or family continue with their delusions.

I won't tell them they're wrong, just explore their delusions to hopefully help them come to their own conclusions.

In my family there are mentally ill, genetic disorders and neuro-atypicals. I deal with this all the time. It's challenging. But it's a responsibility we all share in the family.

Well, when you can off-load the risk to fed government, because you control enough of the assholes in congress...

Fighting dumb laws by creatively observing them. Is brilliant.

Define bully more clearly. What adults do tends to be more indirect than kids.

As kids, bullies are pretty direct, so standing up to them is effective, at a minimum for building your own strength for standing up to things. (In a way, bullying is just the extreme form of how we tease each other growing up, which gives us opportunity to practice dealing with conflict).

Kid bullies expect other kids to just give in. By not doing so, you've changed the "frame" of the interaction.

As adults, dealing with assholes requires this same skill: reframing the situation in a way the aggressor doesn't expect (or maybe comprehend).

Big guys who happen to have good character know they intimidate people just by being there, so have learned to put people at ease though body language and personality. Having worked with and for some of these guys, I've learned a LOT from them about controlling or influencing the frame in a given group or interaction. They know they can simply smack down an aggressor, but would prefer not to, as it doesn't look good and is a hassle for them so is considered a last-attempt option. Which gives them all the mental leeway to just fuck with people who are being stupid.

I've watched these kinds of guys redirect all sorts of craziness, from aggressive drunks on the street (became their buddy), to coaxing Directors or VP's to do things their way...as a Senior Manager. Watching aggravated people laugh within minutes of engaging with someone like this is astounding.

Befriend a big guy who's like this - what you can learn is invaluable.

I'm against the death penalty, in general, because of the high risk of killing an innocent man.

But when it seems to be pretty damn clear, maybe a fast-track to the front of the line is warranted.
