You can try cleaning around the button. Make sure it isn’t being triggered by some crusty sweat/grime. You could also change the behavior of your laptop, in the windows power settings you can change what that button does or how the laptop reacts when being closed. If both are set to do nothing, you would have to specifically turn off/sleep your computer but wouldn’t get any false sleep.

According to the FBI, around 51% of murders in 2021 were solved. So this is just a bit lower than the federal numbers. The number doesn’t shock me, I think solving a murder is very hard and technology can only offer so much more info. Proving murder beyond a doubt is also very difficult, like OJ. We all know he killed his ex wife and her boyfriend, but prosecutors couldn’t prove he did it within the court context. An “unsolved” murder that has a solution.

Based on previous experience, checks and balances is not a thing for the Supreme Court. The most powerful people in the country and they aren’t even elected.

When you are poor, getting money from the government comes with many rules and restrictions. When you are a poor company, getting money from the government comes with zero rules and restrictions.

Texas got the PR for having funded therapy for their prisoners without actually having to help people. The for-profit prison got to make a ton of extra money for their c suite staff and it’s totally fine because they said so.

Planting trees, what is this 1970? House Republicans need to get their head out of their asses, do some proper governing and get the US off of gas and oil. There are still millions of reasons to use petroleum and that transition will be a long one. But the easy ones already exist, replace power plants and cars with electric alternatives. Nuclear, Solar, Wind, Hydro are all mature technologies that are real today and can replace a huge amount of everyday oil.

I still have an Instagram account, when a company gets so big they get hard to avoid. But Instagram, for the time being, has a lot of content I can’t find elsewhere.

But I feel like this vote is an easy nay.

So Hunter has his leaked nudes removed from Twitter. Conservatives saw this as an opportunity to claim a larger coverup. When nothing came to light and Hunter was found guilty of a few other charges they have resorted to literally just posting his leaked nudes.

I’m sorry but if this isn’t just one of the more revealing things about the GOP, I don’t know what is. Make something very normal and done by many people, including members of the GOP, and manipulate the facts to fit a narrative. Push that narrative to the extreme until Fox News reports it as FACT. Hope that wins a few votes in whatever upcoming election. When the initial info is revealed to be bullshit, the plan did its job.

Why post the nudes photos? Because some GOP didn’t get the hint that this was just political propaganda and are following through. The same reason Comet Pizza has been threatened with gun violence.

A big reason I use credit cards for payments is the protection I get when things go wrong. Charge up my card and I can dispute, charge up my bank account and I’m out that money until the bank resolves the issue.

Sure sure, AOC taking a selfie like the average person her age is so weird. Let’s not focus on MTG or Bobert or Matt “I sex traffick minors” Gaetz.

I moved most of my daily computing over to a smart phone about a decade ago. I use a computer for work and a computer for gaming, moving the rest of my computing to a phone helps the brain. Reddits app sucked, their site doesn’t work well on mobile and constantly forced to open in the app. Third party was my only option, Apollo.

I’m using Wefwef (really don’t love the name) which is a clone of Apollo for lemmy. It isn’t as feature-rich at the moment but the interface is similar enough to make the transition easy.

I only really run a server of TV Shows and movies. I use Jellyfin, just personal preference. It’s only really effective for use on the home network, but my smart TVs all have my own personal streaming service.
