I'm on Mastodon, myself. When I first signed up, I joined mast.o, but I wasn't really feeling that, so I did more research, found retro.pizza and realized that it was perfect for me.

Quite frankly, every server should have a "No Nazis, no TERFs" rule at the very top.

Every building should have that on the doors.

The fun kinds of conspiracies like cryptids and alien abductions are fine and not bullshit.

You had me at "fun".

I have five other Fediverse accounts, mostly on some flavor of Mastodon :) Most notably, @[email protected].

Cool. I might migrate my masto but for now mastodon.social is OK for me

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

What's your take on some of the differences between those instances?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago
  • tenforward.social is a good general instance with wide reach and strong moderation in balance
  • weirder.earth is much cozier because of its extensive blocklist and community cohesion
  • one instance is for my family
  • one instance is for porn and NSFW posting in general
  • on instance is for a specific kind of fiction

I've got an account on a small Mastodon instance that a friend owns (migrated to there from the big mastodon.social instance). That's pretty much it! @[email protected]! It's named after a silly design pun where I reshaped the onlyfans logo into a more mastodon-y oliphaunt.

@[email protected] @sleepybisexual Oh wow mentioning my Mastodon account on a lemmy comment actually showed up as a notification in mastodon.

I mean, that makes sense given how ActivityPub works, but that noti sound still caught me off guard.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

And replying to that noti in Mastodon shows up in Beehaw. Wild!

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Yeah, I'm @[email protected]. I'll probably move off that instance soon though, I got a bunch of trolls recently.

Yeah, I'm on mastodon.world, lemmy.world, and kbin.social. I'm thinking of checking out peertube next!

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I’m on lemmy and kbin as well. But I’ve since realised that all (I think) places I want to follow on kbin I can also read and interact with from lemmy. So I’m thinking I’ll just stick with lemmy as my sole account.

Anyone know any drawbacks to this?

I have an account on sh.itjust.works ... I use it when Beehaw is under maintenance, and only created it because I had problems logging in here on the first day of Redditmageddon. It's not entirely horrible, but much closer to reddit's frontpage than here.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

On Mastodon (Albeit I have some plans to move to misskey, but whether it will be self-hosted, I have to figure that out) @[email protected]

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I signed up for a Mastadon account at fosstodon, but I don't use it, so far. I also signed up for lemm.ee just for possible defederation purposes, though I don't use that, either- I like it here, although it's quiet (or maybe because it's quiet).

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I'm on Masto as well

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

i'm on sloth.run, a calckey/firefish instance. i use it to keep an eye on the 'twitter'/'instagram' replacements. i'm by far the most active here. i also have a matrix account but i don't really use it.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I have mastodon and bookwyrm

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I have a mastodon I'm active in (on?) and a kbin that I only look at and never comment because it feels a lil like reddit to me. I've looked at calkey/misskey and while the UI looks nice I don't see a server I'd feel comfortable in that has more than a handful of users.
