News and Discussions about Reddit

Welcome to !reddit. This is a community for all news and discussions about Reddit.

The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

Rules

Rule 1- No brigading.

**You may not encourage brigading any communities or subreddits in any way. **

YSKs are about self-improvement on how to do things.

Rule 2- No illegal or NSFW or gore content.

**No illegal or NSFW or gore content. **

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Posts and comments which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-Reddit posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.

If you vocally harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

:::spoiler Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here.

An extremely rare Babylon Bee W

It used to have some good stuff.

Like it was still conservative aligned, but the jokes were more self directed and not culture wars nonsense. It’s when it was sold in 2018 that it really changed.

I love being able to add little tags next to user names. Added "doesn't understand systematic racism" to op months ago.

Thanks dude

Wow TIL. That earned you the first user tag I hand out, it'll be a unique one "person who taught me that I can use tags on users".

Shit didn't know user tags are a thing, thanks!

Do you know a good client for Android that allows this as a free feature? I am a Sync holdover from Reddit but willing to switch for this (and other) features.

Edit: also I know right lol I noticed the same thing about OP

You can try out Boost.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago

Connect offers this as well.

I don’t have android anymore so I can’t verify this for you, but I’m pretty sure voyager is available over there. The iOS version has user tags, so I assume android would as well.

If you go that route, I suggest enabling the feature to truncate username (remove instance information when there’s a tag, if you always show). Otherwise you won’t even know you have a tag, because it’s inline.

Awesome, will check this out. Thanks!

works with Boost

Didn't the last AI that was trained on social media turn into a raging racist and misogynist?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 day ago

The most recent failure was when everyone was making fun of google search ai for a month because it was quoting blatantly wrong reddit users (who were often joking about something, and it took them seriously)

Generally I think what companies do nowadays for normal models (not the searching a knowledge base thing that Google was doing) is they train a model on basically everything and then bring it into a tuning stage with just approved texts to improve it, and then a human feedback tuning stage to improve it more

And a nazi. A perfect fit for Reddit

[–] [email protected] 13 points 2 days ago

But it'll think it's the smartest AI in the room and won't stop trying to prove itself right

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 days ago

It's funny, this is absolutely a parody but I think A it speaks more truth than anything I've read today.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 day ago

Hahaha love it

Makes sense
