yep in the SF bay area it’s super common for the tech industry to

  1. word job adverts so no americans will qualify or be interested
  2. bring in someone on a visa by sponsoring them
  3. Now they won’t do anything the company doesn’t like (join union efforts, push back against an immoral project, etc) because if they lose their job they also lose their visa

Yeah lots of jobs are gearing up for this by laying people off, halving salaries, and hoping American talent will be desperate enough to work for cheap when the market is flooded.
