I am using a ThinkPad T480. When I installed Ubuntu, everything appeared very small at 100% scaling. Therefore, I activated fractional scaling at 1.5x. This made things readable but had an annoying side effect: apps like Spotify or VS Code were blurry after that. It's better than being way too small but still annoying as hell.
I researched a bit. I tried going back to 100% and decreasing the resolution, which just made everything blurry. I tried switching from Wayland to X11, which fixed the blurriness but resulted in screen tearing and frame drops. I tried increasing the font size at 100% scaling with GNOME Tweaks, which only made stuff look weird because icons stayed the same size, and only the fonts were readable. In the end, I tried updating the system, which also did not work.
These were all the tips and tricks I found online. I am out of options and very frustrated because there doesn’t seem to be a fix for my specific case. So, as a last, hopeless resort, I’m trying to see if anyone has an answer here.
Did anyone experience anything like this and has found a fix that just works without issues?
