Hey everyone,
So we all know by now that our data is constantly being tracked, analyzed, and sold by big tech companies. They’ve made billions off of our browsing habits, often without us fully understanding or getting a say in it.
I’m working on an idea for a browser extension that could flip this around a bit. The concept is simple: instead of companies profiting off your data behind the scenes, you’d actually get paid for sharing it, if you want to, and with complete control over what’s collected. Here’s the gist:
- Total Transparency: You’d know exactly what data is being shared, with options to pick and choose what you’re comfortable with.
- Privacy and Compliance: The data would be anonymized (not traceable back to you) and GDPR-compliant, so it respects privacy rules.
- Earning from Your Data: Instead of just being fuel for someone else’s ad profits, your data would give you a way to earn.
Here’s where I could use some input from folks who really get privacy:
- If you knew exactly what was collected and had control over it, would you consider something like this?
- What would make this feel more privacy-friendly to you?
- Do you think an idea like this could actually work, or is it just another way for companies to invade privacy?
I’d love any thoughts or feedback, especially if there are ways to make this work without compromising the values around data privacy that we all care about.
